Code Me A Tragedy || Lyon & Ephraim (Android AU)

Ephraim’s mechanical arms kept Lyon in his embrace as he nuzzled against him gently, brilliant, soft, beautiful violet hair brushing against his own blue. Ephraim simply shook his head when Lyon called himself pathetic and apologized. No, this was…this could be okay for them both. They could make this work. They had a second chance, a chance to do what they never could before.
“You’re…you’re not pathetic Lyon…” Ephraim reassured the scientist. “You’re not. Don’t be sorry, please. You’ve…given us another chance to do what we didn’t have the chance to do before, Lyon.” The blue-haired android stroked Lyon’s hair lovingly. We’re both here, and we both love each other. We can be with each other now, even though it’ll take some getting used to. It’s all alright Lyon. Don’t you see? I love you!”
Ephraim suddenly lifted Lyon’s head gently, and his lips pressed against Lyon’s. This…this was the one thing about Ephraim that felt entirely natural. His lips moved like lips should move. He was able to press them against Lyon’s to convey all the emotion he’d kept hidden for so long. It kept him tethered, grounded, reminded him that the human that was Ephraim still possessed this body. Even if it was a different body, it was still Ephraim. And oh gods, the kiss was more wonderful than he’d imagined it.
He opened his mouth to protest again, to shake his head, to deny, to ask how anyone could ever love him, this is not the second chance i envisioned, it’s not alright, how can you love me after what i’ve done to y o u--
And suddenly, he was looking into bright blue eyes, a hand on his chin, before Ephraim leaned in- And any train of thought he had was immediately derailed as the scientist froze, stunned, before closing his eyes and relaxing into the kiss. Though not the chapped lips he’d always imagined, it was still Ephraim, somehow, and Lyon could almost trick himself into thinking everything was alright again, that the blunet was still alive in a form that wasn’t a replica, that they hadn’t just been crying their hearts out to eachother.
But this wasn’t their reality, wasn’t the way he’d wanted it, the way either of them had wanted this. The moment ended too soon as he pulled away, hands on Ephraim’s shoulders, gaze cast downwards, eyes wide, afraid, even, as reality rushed in on him once more. Hands trembling, his grip on Ephraim tightened, before he looked up, as if afraid he would lose the other all over again. He’d been too weak to protect, to warn, to preserve, to honor. He didn’t want to fail this time.
“Please... Please don’t leave again. Please stay.” Lyon mumbled. Blinked once, twice. His gaze wavered, his voice dropped to a whisper as his eyes closed and his forehead rested against Ephraim’s with a sigh.
“I... I love you, too. I love you so, so much.”
