At the strangest of moments, all German-speaking nations may burst out singing 99 Luftballons. Nobody asks why, but they do seem to enjoy it as a bit of lighthearted distraction. This usually comes after more than 2 beers have been ingested per person.

Handwriting headcanons for the Nordic countries

Sweden

all capitals

surprisingly small and neat letters

writes very fast!

Denmark

big handwriting

extremely loopy and old-fashioned

cluttered and hard to read, even to himself

Norway

tiny letters leaning to the right

very squarish letters

used to write with all fancy loopy swirly old-lady style but prefers functionalism nowadays (can still do calligraphy)

Finland

rounded letters

good at signing stuff with a fancy loopy and totally unreadable little swoosh

writes very ugly in Swedish

Iceland

neat cursive

very loopy but tiny loops

makes a lot of mistakes and has to redo it

Hungary

tight-together letters

writes a lot of long words in Hungarian and gets frustrated

usually runs out of space on the paper

Czechia

extremely neat or totally sloppy it’s a 50/50

writes like an old lady with blue pen only

left-handed

Slovakia

messy AF and lots of changes in style

doesn’t particularly like writing honestly

draws things in the margins and jots down bad jokes & puns

Poland

neat, narrow letters in black (or red) ink

fast writer, used to write a lot of letters and transcripts from radio

knows shorthand in both Polish and English

Latvia

round letters like a schoolboy

writes slowly to make sure it all looks nice

loopy G’s and J’s

Estonia

all uppercase, efficient

boxy and typewriter-like letters

slashes instead of dots for I’s and J’s

Lithuania

small and orderly

borrows pens a lot, has a whole stash

knows how to write russian cyrillic and uses this against Poland, who does not
