Last Saturday I was in NYC.  Before I left I was looking at the Huber Brothers (an interior decorating firm) design bill for the Heurich House (where I work) and noticed their address as 174 5th Avenue.  A cursory search came up with this great article  http://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/21/realestate/new-york-citys-rare-venetian-gothic-style.html?_r=1

Being the curious person I am, I walked over and found a large modern, concrete building that clearly was not the original building. I was still happy though as there was a delicious sandwich shop, Eisenberg's, and a lovely snowy view of the Flatiron Building.

Introducing...

Hello All!

This is my very first blog post on Tumblr.  As you can see, the name of the blog is heurichhousearchivist.  The artwork on the homepage "A Line A Day" is from one of Amelia Heurich's daily journals, which she kept religiously.  That is what I will be trying to do here:  keep a somewhat frequent blog about interesting things I learn, as I go through the archives and when I connect dots.  This is not a research blog, just things I find interesting and I think you might too!
