Scary times

  On Meaner’s wheels of steel:  Roky Erickson – Night of the Vampire

This week saw the Preston Roller Girls get their freak on.  Creativity ran wild and our girls donned skeleton outfits, zombie make-up and the rather sexy limited edition PRG tees, to celebrate Hallowe’en in style. 

Practice was no party though.  Wheely Whippy had other plans – her ‘bruised’ face fit well with her plan to beat us into shape!  Endurance drills of leg burners, bleep tests, drop and roll and other tortures were in abundance.  By the end of the session the heavy-breathing would not have been out of place for the sleaziest of schlock-horror menaces.

On Meaner’s Wheels of Steel: Devo - Girl U Want

Super exciting times are happening now over at PRG Palace.  Our new Sinners 2 Winners course started on Sunday and we took in nearly 20 new skaters, with more starting next week too.  They were really quite good - put us old timers to shame, you know.  In fact, we’re pretty sure you’ll see them in action very soon at a bout near you!!!

What if you found the girl of your dreams? What if, just as it seemed you were going to live happily ever after, you found out she was literally the girl “of your dreams”? What if you woke up? Would you do like Fiona, and go back into the Dream World, navigating through a surreal land of monsters and tyrants? What if “It was all just a dream” wasn’t the twist ending, but just the beginning?

Such is the premise of “YU+ME: dream”, a webcomic I created 10 years ago, started drawing 8 years ago, and finished 2 years ago, with a total of 847 pages. It uses a multitude of art styles and mediums, including watercolors, vector, and even clay puppets. Sometimes it’s silly, sometimes it’s scary, sometimes it’s romantic, sometimes it’s an adventure. It can be read online at http://yume-comic.com.

June 18th is “YU+ME Day”, the day I both started and ended the comic, six years apart. In commemoration, I am doing a giveaway!

The Prize: A set of the comics, in paperback form, 6 volumes. Volumes 1-3 are in black and white, volumes 4-6 are in color. All volumes include bonus comics not found online. All of them signed.

All yarn is hand-dyed by myself on a sturdy 75% wool, 25% nylon sock-weight base. The yarn is superwash, but minimal bleeding is possible due to the hand-dyed nature of the yarn, so caution is urged when washing. All dyes are food-safe ;-)
