After rumours suggesting that When Marnie Was There was likely to be the final film from Studio Ghibli, general manager Toshio Suzuki has now reportedly confirmed that the famed Japanese animation company will be closing its doors as a production company and will instead focus on managing the trademarks of its back-catalogue. Co-founded by Hayao Miyazaki …

This is some really sad news. Ghibli has made so many monumental anime films, it will be hard to even imagine no more films being made. It personally feels heartbreaking to see this studio at its end, even if previous films will continue distribution. What are thoughts on this and which Studio Ghibli film was your favorite?
