New extended synopsis for the Shangai and New York Specials!

New York Special: "For the week of Franco-American friendship, Marinette and her class travel to New York, the City of Superheroes! The perfect opportunity for Marinette to spend time with her friends and especially Adrien. whenever marinette gets out of bed before adrien he wakes up just a little, asks where she’s going, then tugs her back down so he can kiss her forehead before she leaves

when he sleeps at her house and she wakes up earlier than him he feels her leave his arms and is like “mmarinette?” and she’s like “just going to make breakfast” and without even opening his eyes he tugs at her hand until she levels with him and he kisses her forehead

by the time theyre married marinette starts leaning over a sleeping adrien before she goes to work so he can move back her fringe and kiss her forehead before she leaves

marinette, leaning over him, in the softest voice ever: bye adrien <3 

adrien: [rolls over in bed, not even able to open his eyes, and holds her face so he can kiss her forehead] bye honey

one morning there’s an interview that ladybug has to go to but not chat noir (maybe an event for empowering young girls or something) and she goes up to Sleeping Adrien for her kiss and this time he sort of opens his eyes and says “this looks like the start of a lot of my dreams from when i was fourteen” then kisses her forehead

Okay, so Adrien once said that he would love Ladybug, no matter who was under the mask.

Now, I’m not saying this isn’t true; I’m just saying it might not be as true as he thinks it is.

So, there are two episodes in which Adrien believes that he’s discovered Ladybug’s true identity: Lady WiFi and Chat Blanc. However, he believes her to be a different girl in each situation, and has a very different reaction to finding out (or being told) of the girl behind the mask.

Starting with Lady WiFi, in this episode, Adrien is told by Nino that Alya believes Chloé is Ladybug.

Of course, from his point of view, this isn’t the most outlandish theory; he acts like a different person while in the mask, too, and if Plagg can change certain aspects about his appearance (ie. eyes, hair), there’s no reason her Kwami couldn’t do the same.

But if you take a look at his expressions both times he thinks Chloé is Ladybug...

......his face doesn’t exactly scream “I’ve found the love of my life and now we can fulfill my fantasy of a long, happy life together.”

He looks more confused, slightly revolted, and even a little sad. Because the girl that he claims to love isn’t all she seemed to be. In the second photo, he almost seems to be questioning their team dynamic, and his love for her now that he knows who she really is.

Even though he knows that Chloé likes him, therefore he could finally have a shot, he still doubts his feelings.

And then, of course, the real Ladybug shows up and he’s relieved to find out that she’s not actually Chloé Bourgeois.

Now, then you have Chat Blanc; in which, for once, Adrien is not an oblivious, socially inept—yet loveable—idiot.

In this episode, after he catches Ladybug leaving a present from Marinette in his room, he begins to connect the pieces (to Plagg’s dismay), and his face when he finally comes to his conclusion.........

..........pretty much screams “I’ve found the love of my life and now we can fulfill my fantasy of a long, happy life together.”

Look at how happy he is; the way his eyes light up and he wears the familiar love struck smile of Chat Noir as he clutches the (quite hideous, in my opinion) beret to his heart.

And, remember, at this time he was still kind of oblivious, grasping at straws and jumping to conclusions. Despite the heart sewn into his hat, he still couldn’t really be sure Marinette liked him.

And yet, he didn’t hesitate to insist that it had to be her, and to seek her out and confess his love to her.

Instead of doubting the way they work as a team, he promises not to let his feelings get in the way, even keeping his own identity secret from her because he knows she wants them to remain hidden.

Therefore, despite Adrien’s claims that he would love the girl beneath the mask, no matter who she truly is, I just don’t think this is as true as he believes it.

Because both times, when the masks came off and the bubbles burst, he had different reactions. For one, he began to question his love for Ladybug. And for the other, it seems his feelings were amplified.

So, in Chat Blanc, he didn’t date Marinette just because she was Ladybug, despite the claims of some fans.

He dated her because, whether he knows it or not, Adrien must harbor some feelings for Marinette, or at least note the potential of developing feelings.

Just because he claims to love the mystery girl, doesn’t mean her identity won’t actually affect his feelings for her.

I realize people have probably noticed this before, and it’s nothing new, but I got bored in the shower and started thinking about it so here we are.
