Hey cupcake! I remember asking people to lock you up in Forever 21 before this day could even arrive, but since you turned a year older today then I guess it didn't work. Oh gosh, can you believe it? You're actually 22 now - and I know some people would actually find it funny to play you that Taylor Swift song, so I'm going to let them take that instead and I wouldn't tell you that it feels like one of those nights. But hey, everything WILL be alright if you keep me next to youuu. Just kidding.

It feels like everything has been moving too fast, don't you think? It feels like yesterday you were just that 16 year old singing "Isn't She Lovely?" for your X-Factor audition, completely unaware that in a few years, you'd be a part of one of the biggest phenomenons that had ever hit the world, a boyband that had touched a million of other people's hearts. A boyband that had served as an inspiration for girls and boys all around the world. A boyband that had formed a brotherhood, sisterhoods, and most of all, a family. A family that had been around for 5 years, through ups and downs, thick and thin, for better or for worse. A family that had been holding on and going strong despite all the obstacles being thrown our way.

At the age of 22, you've already done a lot, achieved a lot, and experienced a lot, and I couldn't be prouder than I am now for you. You've come so far, and you've reached your dreams - and inspired a lot of dreams of others while you were at it. Harry, I'm so happy for you. God had been so great to send an angel like you to Earth, and I'm so thankful to have been born in this era, an era with a Harry Edward Styles in it. You've proven to the world that you were more than just that cheeky lad with adorable dimples, charming smile, mesmerizing green eyes, fabulously long and curly hair, amazing legs, rippling abs, and kissable lips. You've proven that Harry Edward Milward Cox Styles is an angel, a helpful person, someone down-to-earth despite his fame, and really, there are tons of great words to describe you but if I list them down, then everyone would start believing in forever because it would take that long to even put into words how good of a person you are.

For your special day, my wish for you would be happiness. You deserve all the happiness in the world, Harry. After all, you've given this world happiness, this world including me. Your smile lights up my world, and don't even get me started on your laugh. I'd love to see and hear more of that, so please be happy during the hiatus. Enjoy being 22 without touring across the seas. Relax and have fun with your family. Do what you want - nothing illegal though (just kidding!) and keep it within reason. Take care of yourself. It often happens when someone deals with prolonged mental health issues and suicidality at a young age. When you’re young, we go through a period where our neural pathways completely rearrange- the things that happen to us at that time will influence these changes. In a way, suicidal ideation becomes an ingrained coping mechanism. A sort of “well at least suicide is always there for me”. Your brain is part-muscle, it remembers things, it learns, it’s super great at adapting, this is just a reflex. It doesn’t mean you are weak, it doesn’t mean you aren’t in recovery.

Dear One Direction,

It’s been 5 years (can you believe that?) since the five of you, me, and the billions of other Directioners decided to dedicate our lives to this band, the one which they branded as “the biggest band on the planet”, and it’s been 5 years since you guys have changed billions of people’s lives, including mine, and there’s nothing more I’d want to do than thank all of you. And now that I finally have the opportunity to do so, well, here it goes: thank you. Thank you for bringing me up when I’m down. Thank you for making me laugh. Thank you for being strong despite every obstacles you have faced. Thank you for showing me what it means to care for the people I love. Thank you for inspiring me to do my best and reach for my dreams. Thank you for showing me that nothing is impossible. And most importantly, thank you for being there when no one else was. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Many would think that I fell in love with this *points to several shirtless pictures of Niall, Liam, Louis, Harry, and Zayn* but they're wrong. I fell for the Harry who had four nipples (by the way, I really think the two extra ones look more like birthmarks), the Liam who was afraid of spoons (which was the reason why a lot of us tried to eat soup using fork), the Louis who had the extreme Doncaster sass (no one can ever beat the Tommo in a word war #masterofallwisdom), the Niall who thought they should dress up like Louis when they were first put together as a band ("I like his shoes"), and the Zayn who hid backstage at X-Factor because he doesn't know how to dance (but look at him do the in-betweeners dance). I fell for the One Direction who goofed around and didn't care if they looked silly or stupid as long as they were themselves. I didn't know this would all happen after my sister introduced me to One Direction and Google decided it would be fun to suggest "One Direction Funny Moments" for me to watch, but I don't regret a thing. I mean, why would I ever regret something that makes me happy?

Those five years weren't a walk in the park, for there were bumps and twists and turns that has come our way. The ride wasn't all that smooth, but what's life without a few challenges anyway? We've been through a lot, but still we got past the prooblems, from issues about solos to one of you leaving, thrown our way as a family. It was all worth it, It was all freaking worth it.

I hope you'll continue reaching for your dreams and making people happy, because as your fans, we'll always have your back. And even though we've never even talked or met. I want you to know that you will always hold a special place in my heart. Yes, always. Even when you're old and your kids think you're a joke, you will remain as my boys. Our boys. And I will always be your girl.

There are a lot of things I want to say to you, but words aren't good enough to properly express my love for all of you, I hope you take care, because I want no harm to come to my angels, heroes, and sunshines. I wish you all the best, and for you to be happy. Because nobody saves me, baby, the way you do.

The Thing About Pain

"That's the thing about pain. It demands to be felt." - The Fault In Our Stars

You've probably heard this line from TFIOS fanatics or have read it yourself several times, and maybe you've thought to yourself, "what is it about this line that makes it so memorable?". Well, if you ever did, here's my answer. This line has left a mark because it can't be anymore truer. Pain DOES demand to be felt.

Pain is always associated with hurt, ache, grief, sadness, and a whole lot of other derivatives of those words. Pain is present in our everyday lives, whether we like it or not. So you just failed that exam, be it a quiz, a long test, or a trimestral exam. Or maybe you're going through a breakup. You were betrayed. You were rejected. A loved one passed away. All of these can make us feel hurt, all of these are moments when you can actually feel the pain in your chest, all of these are moments that can break our hearts, in one way or another (a river of tears and hysterical sobbing are optional).

There are two types of pain-physical and emotional- and they shouldn't be compared, because even if both of them are pain, they differ from each other. But if you dig deeper, you'll find that getting a nasty cut is just like suffering a heartbreak. Once the skin splits, your nerves send instant pain signals to your brain, and you can do nothing about it. But the sooner you feel the pain, the sooner it's over. The sooner you admit to yourself that it hurts, the sooner the ache disappears. And despite how painful it is at the start, eventually the wound heals, and then you're okay again.

But if you come to think of it, pain isn't always a bad thing. Without pain, we wouldn't look for happiness, or love. Pain makes us appreciate even the littlest things in life which makes us feel happy and loved. It is also pain which makes us stronger, the tears which makes us braver, and the heartbreak which makes us wiser, because sometimes we need to be hurt in order to grow. We must lose in order to gain. Sometimes, some lessons are learned best through pain. Pain teaches us lessons that could never be learned if we didn't feel it. There are going to be lots of hard times in your life, but those hard times only make you stronger in the end, because if everything was easy, then nothing would be worth it. Without pain, without getting hurt, you wouldn't be stronger than the person you are yesterday, so thank the past for a better future. Pain is inevitable. Pain demands to be felt, but only so that we would learn and grow in life. So don't bottle things up. Give yourself time to feel the pain. Allow yourself to feel the pain. Let the pain consume you- but not for too long, because being hurt may be something you can't stop from happening, but in the end, you have the option to be sad for what you lost or be happy for what you still have.
