This is true! We’re always happy to make sure a package ships as discreetly as possible. Just email or call us as soon as you place the order (email and calls go straight to Customer Service, even if you have to leave a voicemail, so they’ll get attention faster than a message through social media). You don’t need to give us any explanation—we’re happy to change things for you, no questions asked.
Domestic mail vs. International mail is a little different, so let’s handle the domestic within-the-USA shipping first.
By default, we always use very nondescript envelopes or boxes, and the only indication of what you’re ordering will be in our company name. You can usually choose a different shipping and billing name when you’re checking out, but if for some reason your legal or dead name ends up on a package instead of your current name (this can sometimes happen if you check out using PayPal, which has been known to override information), we can get that changed before the package ships as long as you let us know right away. We certainly don’t want anything shipping out with the wrong name!
We can remove our company name at your request, for domestic orders, so the package only lists your shipping information and our return address (in case of issues with shipping).
International orders are a bit trickier, because of Customs.
We do have to include a business name, but we have an alternative name we can use, which doesn’t easily trace back to us through the internet (I’m not mentioning it specifically so that we don’t pop up in a google search, but you can learn more from this blog post, although be aware that a lot of the information in that post is out of date at this point). However, we do need to list the contents of the package for customs, so it’s not possible to be as discreet with international shipping.
If you’re really concerned about privacy, it might be worth sending the package to a friend or a post office box, since we can’t guarantee as much anonymity with international packages as with domestic. The packaging itself is just as nondescript as with domestic orders, however, and we’re happy to change any names that might come through wrong, as long as you let us know right away via email or voicemail!
It’s very important to us that everyone find the socks they want, and feel comfortable doing so. If there’s ever anything we can do to make this process smoother for you, feel free to reach out, and we’ll help however we can!
