Portraits [A version] of Edward Remus βTeddyβ Lupin (left) and James Sirius Potter (right), commissioned by me and drawn by the absolutely delightful and talented @za-ra-h
Well of COURSE I was going to commission art of James and Teddy! Ever since rejoining the Harry Potter fandom after reading the cursed child play and getting subsequently dragged kicking and screaming into the Jeddy ship, Iβve been absolutely drowning in all things Teddy and James (not that Iβm complaining of course).
Working with @za-ra-h was an absolute joy, she was so sweet with hard earned talent to match, and I love these portraits to death. I canβt get over how aesthetic the sketchy elements blend so well with the rest, and itβs absolutely astounding how much careful detail went into both of these beautiful boys. She took all the references I sent her as well as my clumsily worded personal interpretation of them and came out with these breathtaking pieces.
My favorite details out of everything are:
1.) Jamieβs freckles (looking at his portrait regular size you see freckles, then you zoom in and BOOM SO MANY MORE FRECKLES HOLY SHIT). Itβs realistic in an almost jarring way, because normally when you come across someone with freckles you donβt realize just how many of them they have until youβre inches away from them, because freckles can fade in some light, or seem darker in other light.
2.) Teddyβs eyes! Being a metamorphmagus like his mother, I really never saw his standing eye color to be something stagnant or singular. I always imagined them constantly ever changing without much control. His eyes to me would be chaotic water color art, splattered oil paintings, kaleidoscopic. Zara captured that image PERFECTLY, and I recommend EVERYONE zoom in to get the full effect of Teddyβs gorgeous eyes.
It was her idea to add their house scarves as an extra identifier, and it was such a good idea!!! It just makes me love them more!
Zaraβs commissions are currently open, so if youβre interested in commissioning her, or youβve been searching for an artist already, OR if youβre just curious, then check her out HERE and letβs shower her in all the love and appreciation she deserves for all her hard work and passion!
