Here to say some shit cause YBC supporters/fans are PISSING ME THE FUCK OFF.
You support CP huh? The characters are in a highschool setting and Yuri (one of the many popular characters) IS 16!!!! In the wiki it literally says he’s a second year. If he was a third year and was 18 and having a relationship with another 18 year old this wouldn’t be a problem. But the fact this BL is depicting minors having sexual intercourse together is NOT ok.
Do NOT use the manga as an excuse. Even if the characters are old enough in the manga, why cant they be aged up in the anime? Why must the creator (which is a ADULT) make the characters 18+ in the manga if they can also do it in the anime? There’s no excuse for that and it’s clear that they used this as a excuse to cover themselves up.
It sucks because the character designs are fucking AMAZING. I LOVE Yuri’s design and his bright pink hair, and I love Tamura’s bright BLUE hair. But it’s all ruined by how SEXUAL this anime is, are you kidding me?
The amount of Non-Con in the anime is also extremely disgusting. The two boys who just wanted to bond over photography were almost forced to be in this sex club???
And I’ve seen actual people, defending it saying it’s fictional. And that I should focus on real life CP and rape. LIKE MF ARE YOU SLOW? People have invalidated my opinion as a sexual assault/abuse victim and I’m sick of it. Fantasy can STAY fantasy but it cannot go beyond it, and if you’re against rape and CP then you should be against it if it was fictional aswell. Cause it’s disgusting that people have the mindset to lewd a CHILD character. Draw it for yourself. Not for the whole world to see.
If you didn’t know this, and supported the anime before. Now you know.
I don’t want to start an argument but I’ll let you know that most fans who read the manga actually despise the anime for how sex focused it is, because it makes ybc look like an all-nsfw no-plot kind of story which is not. What I personally hate the most about it is that the anime made the relationship between a student (Shikatani) and a teacher seem okay while they have in fact cut away the part where the teacher is shown physically abusing him (and in the manga, many chapters later, it is finally revealed that Shikatani is doing that against his will and the other characters help him get the teacher fired).
I don’t give a damn about Yuri (I prefer the 3rd Years), but the characters definitely look older than their age, they aren’t “minor-coded”. I think the high school setting was chosen just because it was easier to handle and that’s basically the most common setting for this kind of stories (I mean Japanese slice of life/romance/rom-con series). But like, there are series where the characters clearly look younger and they get a free pass just because they state they’re 18 even if it’s clearly a lie. And so, what’s worse? Giving the characters a “fake younger age” just to have it set in a boarding high school like YBC does, or aging up characters that clearly look younger just to avoid trouble? The fact that people can’t even tell they are technically minors means that they are meant to look like young adults, and they do.
I agree that the non-con thing about them joining the club is bad, but at least it didn’t happen for real (it’s mostly used as a plot device to make Kashima confess his feelings for Toono; please compare this to the amount of BLs where actual rape is used as a plot device to make the character confess their feelings instead of using it to avoid a non-con scene) and these things tend to tone down a lot later on in the series. Most of the sex scenes in the manga are consensual and when they aren’t, they’re often implied to be negative rather than positive. I agree that some scenes are problematic and I would absolutely live without them, but most of the manga isn’t like that.
I’m sorry about your experiences, I totally respect your wish to despise YBC but please, don’t treat at as if it’s the worst thing in the world because the author is actually very good at character and plot writing and if you read between the lines it gets clear that the characters act like this due to traumas and issues they have yet to overcome rather than because it’s fun or edgy. It gets pretty depressing if you read it by caring about the characters’ emotions rather than the sexual façade they put up.
And about Akemi hating women (since someone mentioned it in the notes), it’s true but it’s also implied to be due to his ex (most likely abusive) boyfriend leaving him for a girl. That detail is part of his tragic background. He says he hates women because he still isn’t able to fully see his ex as the total garbage he is and for this reason he instinctively directed his frustration to the person who stole him away rather than aknowledging the fact that he was in an abusive relationship.
Thanks for handling it well, I just really don’t like how it shows sexual intercourse with minors and I will not shake that off. I understand the intent of making them seem older but why cant they BE older. That’s my whole problem with it. Even if it calms down as the series continues it shouldn’t have been that strong when it started, cause damn that shit caught me off guard???😦 Anywho, you’re fine I won’t hate you for it. I respect your opinion and for telling me some other aspects of it. But the high school setting and the NSFW just doesn’t sit right with me.
Thank you too. I see, that’s totally fine and understandable. I wish you a good day (^ - ^)🌸
