This year has been all about recovery. In 2019, I allowed myself to visit places within myself that scared me, but also the places that most inspired me, and both areas rendered the same result: growth. This year recovered what I believe is my truest self. The woman without trauma, unhealthy pressures, grudges I’ve held to myself and others. The creative, the visionary, the BOSS. This year I experienced what it felt like to lose a light within myself that would only return brighter and more energized than ever. This year I recovered. I mended the injured relationships I felt were valuable, and I let go of the ones that made me feel small. I learned when to speak up and when to let my silence advocate, I learned who to open my hands to and who to guard myself against, and I learned when to say I was sorry only when I meant it, and not for who I am. No, I am not perfect, yes I am worthy. I am walking into a new month, year, and decade with a new recovered sense of self. Cheers to a new year coming! __ SB: Once upon a time I was a dance teacher. It’s been 7 years since I have performed (outside of church) and 4 since I have taught a dance class. I’m so rusty now, obviously.
