Pentheus, the King of Thebes, was torn apart limb-from-limb (sparagmos) by his own mother, Agave, and her sisters in a Dionysian frenzy for defying the god Dionysus.
(I want to portray the terrifying side of Dionysus!)
Some young Odysseus and Penelope from last year (and some odydiopen!!)
Scylla, Pompeii wall painting, from the Villa Ariadne at Stabia. First century CE. From the National Archeological Museum, Naples. My photo.
Two of Odysseus' crewmates are struggling beneath her, as her three dogs bite and maul them. She raises an oar over her head.
Her expression is both angry and desperate. One of my favorites images of Scylla. For other strange images of Scylla, see here.
Clytemnestra

Athena
Hera
Aphrodite
Reblog for larger sample size whatever
no no let em cook, what do i get if i choose one of them
Athena gives you a really cool sword and armor.
Hera offers you a life long and happy
Aphrodite offers you the most beautiful woman in the world. She does not specify if this woman is married or not
oh fuck yeah i love women i vote aphrodite
Uh oh, she's married to the King of Sparta and now all of her former suitors are after you and they all brought a minimum of 600 soldiers.
thank the gods for these really sturdy walls i think everything will go so well for the neighborhood
Big horse.

Odypen for the heart

Happy valentine's day with young OdyPen 💝
The actual reason why Elpenor was sent to Hades a bit sooner than expected. Odysseus' crew deserves more recognition!
Some more Penelope with a cane
Helen of Sparta
An undeniably beautiful and intelligent woan, she is kind and calm, but after being kidnapped by Paris, she became more withdrawn and despondent.
She will always be in the tower, looking out the window and crying, waiting to return home to her husband while the war for her abduction rages on.
[She will surely hold a grudge against Aphrodite]
HELEN DOESN'T LIKE PARIS AND NEVER HAS 🗣💥
[Head canon] Helen never accepted the gifts Paris brought her. She always wears the tunic her husband Menelaus gave her; if it gets dirty or torn, she sews and cleans it herself. No matter how many clothes Paris gives her, she will never wear them
Homer introducing Odysseus in the Odyssey: Gorgeous, powerful, incredible thighs, smartest man alive, favourite of Athena, there is nothing this man can't do.
Homer introducing Odysseus in the Iliad: Over on that black ship, the short, ugly man. Yes, I know he looks pathetic but Agamnemon only brought him because the rest of the Achaeans don't have 3 braincells between them.
Would you fall in love with me again?
real yearners
the fact that Odysseus' curiosity is damn near his fatal flaw has always been my favorite thing. Man tied himself to the stake to listen to a siren song just cause. i couldn't get over how BRILLIANT that was when i was a kid. like, man did not need to do that but he HAD TO KNOW. tell this man "don't look" and he's mid turning around. hand this man the necrominicon and watch diomedes beat him unconscious to protect them both cause he's gonna peek.
