kitty rescue squad! —✮
for @hgdxjongup
rainy days were meant to be spent in the house, where sarang could read in peace. more like nap, but details weren’t important. growing up with parents that preferred to feel the dirt in between their bare toes, feeling the warm sun kiss their skin, one would believe that sarang would adopt those same ideals; preferring to embrace all that nature had to offer. they were wrong, and she would even go as far as calling them ignorant. she wasn’t her parents, and even her parents couldn’t stand the idea of their clothes getting wet.
but here she was, rain jacket zipped all the way up, umbrella held above her head, kicking at a puddle idly in the middle of the rain waiting for jongup. a stubborn pout settled on her lips, displeasure etched into her facial expression as looked at her phone for a moment. there wasn’t anything that she wasn’t willing to do for her friends, especially when he asked so nicely for her assistance ( more like bribed ). besides, she couldn’t let him get sick searching for a stray kitty that had slipped from the cafe.
sarang curses her heart for being so weak and fragile to small animals.
“jongup-ah!” she calls out of both relief and excitement when she sees him, shuffling over towards him to shield his head from the downpour. “honestly, how did the cat break out? is it like some super smart kitty?” tilting her body to the side a little, she peeks inside the cafe, waving at the owner for a moment before directing her attention back to him.
jongup didn’t like rainy weather. it was too gloomy, too dull, too depressing, way too boring for his taste. he's always been one to prefer those sunny summer days that allowed him to bask outside in the heat while sipping on iced drinks. he would have preferred to hold off the search until the next morning, but desperate times called for desperate measures and jongup was certainly desperate at this time.
and so, the boy called for a partner, put on his yellow raincoat and filled a backpack filled with bags of cat treats and batteries along with the flashlights that went with them.
he bounces onto his feet at the sight of a familiar girl making her way to the café. sarang. of course, he felt some sort of guilt for making one of his friends join him, but two is always better than one and he promised to make it up to her with free food and what could possibly be better than free food? nothing in the boy’s opinion.
“glad you could make it. knew i could count on you,” he managed to chuckle, hand ruffled through her hair, despite how shit the situation was. his hands clumsily searched for the keys in his pocket, locking up the restaurant.
“no clue,” he shrugged purely confused himself. maybe, someone must have held the door open too long. maybe, the cat’s been planning this for a while and just decided to book the idea for a day the weather sucked. jongup didn’t know. he just wanted to find the cat as soon as possible, otherwise his mom might just kill him. “you ready to go?”
