an explanation of Ren’s smallness that I realize I’ve never said anywhere:
Ren was born in Japan and moved to North America. Canadian red foxes are large and bushy [ especially rural ones ]. Once I was in Hokkaido, Japan, and saw some wild street foxes. I was amazed at how tiny they were! Like half the size of the ones I’ve seen on my family’s farms in Canada!

I was looking through old archived stuff from old post and noticed that Ren originally was owned by EP. Did you buy Ren off of them or trade a character? I'm sorry for the question because I know you don't like talking about EP but its making me wonder why you kept Ren considering that he was originally owned by someone you dislike a lot.
I actually received ‘custody’ of Ren in a character trade. I gave away a character design of a demon named ‘Veni’.
EP may have designed Ren, but I consider Ren very much to be mine.
Not to put too fine a point on it, Ren was designed to be a simple punching bag. No personality traits aside from being weak.
I played into that with the first game, but after that I saw more potential. I wrote his dialogue, I wrote his story. I let him speak. I let him be in charge and be angry.
In a way, Ren is a bit symbolic to me. He’s something I got from a terrible situation. He’s an evolution from ‘victim’ to ‘person’. He is evidence that I have power over my past and that I can shape what I received into building blocks for my future.
Ren is my character, and I love him.
