a gentle apology for being so inactive, but for the past few years i've been at uni! doing art! i don't typically write a lot here, but i felt like something like this deserved some words.
i finally graduated last month and have also finally mustered the energy and courage to post my Senior Project. naturally, i had to make something revolving around some of my most personal characters while also wanting to try something new for me, haha. one of my main objectives for this piece was to explore these two characters' tumultuous relationship as father and son, as creator and creation, while alluding to events that occur in their story. essentially, i really wanted to make a narrative piece utilizing both digital and traditional media, kind of mingling their fictional beings to something more "real" (physical) while also probably bleeding a lot of my own personal feelings about being a creator and creating something. there's a lot to unpack there but that's the essence of it. haah.
i spent the last semester working on it off and on... i actually felt pretty obsessed with this idea the moment the stars aligned in my head and it was all i ever wanted to work on during that last semester. i had a lot of fun with it despite some struggle and time constraints, and it made me realize how much i loved working with the risograph as well as making paper art. there's something so interesting exploring an illustration through physical layers, piecing it all back together from the background to the foreground... i could go on and on, but just know it was so cool seeing it come together.
there's a lot i had in mind with this piece but, again, due to time i didn't fully experiment with it... so maybe sometime down the line, i could revisit or retry it? who knows. either way, i'm just really proud of this piece and i'm glad i made it.
A new resident of Ferrough and the newest member of the Ferrough Library’s archival team. Haunted by both past mistakes and an actual, literal spirit, he has spent the last while traveling from place to place, hunting monsters and adding entries to his cryptid sighting blog. He and his spirit (friend?) Shark arrived following her lead, searching to remedy his past mistake, and fulfill his end of an old bargain. Secretive and observant, you could say he’s the brainiac of the group.
