Fuck it. I know that FFnet won't do anything so it's time to leave.

I checked my fandom email this morning to find some Trumpist had spewed a bunch of nasty reviews all over my stories a few days ago--creating an account just to spew them in fact, so I can't get rid of them (of all of the things to patch, they had to patch the thing that let you delete signed-in reviews).

I've still got my stories posted at AO3, so I've backed up my reviews from FFnet and taken down the stories entirely from there. The only reviews I get these days from there are people trying to get me to continue writing with varying types of emotional manipulation, and Trumpists spewing bile. It's not worth it.

We’re in the middle of a pandemic that has killed a quarter million Americans and will probably kill hundreds of thousands more.  Unemployment is skyrocketing.  Fascists are marching in the nation’s capital.  The wannabe orange dictator is trying a coup and his party is enabling him.  Demonstrations against police brutality are being beaten down by more police brutality.  An incredibly unqualified ideologue was put into a lifetime appointment at the last moment into our highest court.  Millions of people around the world are suffering under authoritarian governments.  Our planet is cooking.  I haven’t gone out and socialized with people in half a year.

But “depression isn’t an excuse”!?  

Fuck you.  

So yeah, FFnet is dead to me, and I’m considering abandoning the story entirely.

So it's been a year. I still have my outline, notes and some bits drafted. What I don't have is motivation to finish. So my options are to 1) Leave it and let it die 2) just publish the rest of the outline on AO3 and mark it as complete 3) Hand it off to someone I trust (I've got a shortlist, so don't ask me if I haven't offered) to potentially finish it. I'm chewing on what to do.

So... I wrote a thing, and posted it yesterday.  It’s shameless smut, of the “Oh, god, they were SOCIAL DISTANCING” type.  Hiccstrid + Ruffnut/Cami, where Ruff and Cami hear their housemates enjoying themselves and end up joining in, having gone horny from the isolation.  

I make no apologies.  :D  

For the moment, it’s just a one-shot, but we’ll see where things go; if there’s interest, I might end up writing more.

As I got blocked by the Trumpist who is whining that I called them a “whiny bitch” (I did not; the ban notification read “Trump supporter.  Nazi apologist” and cited a previous tantrum and their own recent posts about their cultist devotion to Trump), I do want to say this much:

If it’s their “opinion” that Trump is a good president instead of an incompetent criminal…

If it’s their opinion that Trump is being persecuted instead of prosecuted…

 Here are some fine folks who agree with them politically who will be happy to socialize with them! 

But we cannot have this person in a social space populated by people who Trump has made it very clear are not worthy of his concern.  I cannot, for the safety and sanity of those present in the social space I have cultivated, including myself, be kind to someone whose beliefs are so divorced from reality and so cruel in their execution.

I can’t.

I am Jewish, and Trump has called my people “ruthless killers” and implied that we are not American citizens, saying that Netanyahu is “your prime minister”, and he invites to his White House as an accredited member of the press someone who calls the impeachment a “Jew coup”.  

And that’s just me.

On my server, there are a number of minorities whose lives are directly affected by Trump and his policies.  

I cannot give someone who supports concentration camps access to Mexican people who are there are in good faith.  

I cannot give someone who supports a Muslim ban access to the Muslim members who just want to talk fanfic.  

I cannot give someone who supports a sexual predator access to the women.

I cannot be kind to a Trumpist without being cruel to everyone else.

A few chapters back, I announced in my author notes that Trump supporters were not welcome in my stories.  

And I got so much whining.  And accusations of discrimination, and of bias, and of creating an echo chamber, and other such bullshit.  One said “ I feel that saying someone is not welcome because of their political beliefs is not very kind. I dont support or oppose all of Trump’s beliefs, but it isnt fair to discriminate against those who do.”

And I’m just like… 

Oh really?  It’s “not very kind”?  It’s “discrimination” to say that they aren’t welcome?

Gee, what is Trump’s signature campaign promise!?

“BUILD THE WALL!”

Almost as if telling the “tired, poor, huddled masses yearning to breathe free” that they aren’t welcome!  Putting them in cages!  Letting them die from influenza!  Stealing their children and giving them up for adoption to White families!  

And by dint of supporting Trump, they are supporting that.

It’s supposedly not very kind to “discriminate” against Trump supporters for giving their support to this, but the rest of us are supposed to just suck it up and not react for fear of hurting their precious feelings?

If I am a Muslim, then I have watched Trump supporters scream about “Sharia law” and attempt to pass travel bans against Muslim countries–to say that Muslims aren’t welcome to come here and live.

If I am LGBT, then I have watched Trump and his administration attempt to erase what scant protections sexual minorities have managed to win–that LGBT people aren’t welcome to live in the US.

If I am Hispanic, then I have watched Trump and his ICE and Border Patrol corral immigrants in camps with unconscionable conditions and attempt to revoke the citizenship of Hispanic Americans–that Hispanic people aren’t welcome in the US and he’s planning on doing something about it.

If I am Jewish, then I have watched Trump accuse four-fifths of American Jews of disloyalty and treason, and call Nazis “very fine people”, and saying that Netanyahu is “your prime minister” to American citizens–that he doesn’t view Jews as belonging as Americans.

If I am disabled or poor, I have watched Trump mock disabled people and do everything in his power to cut the welfare that keeps me alive, and give the wealth to his rich buddies–because poor people don’t get to live in the US except on sufferance so long as there’s still labor to be squeezed out.

If I am a POC, then I have watched Trump and his followers wallow in racist rhetoric, with him calling Black politicians unspeakable terms and make the most vile and disgusting accusations against African-Americans, going all the way back decades to the Central Park Five and his discrimination against black renters, not to mention that he was endorsed by the KKK and didn’t speak out against the endorsement, instead saying that he would need to investigate further.  Because Black people are not “Real” Americans by their standards–only Trump’s base are “Real” Americans from their perspective.  

If I am a journalist, then I have watched, repeatedly, Trump call my profession to be the “enemy of the people”, and do nothing when a reporter was brutally murdered–because journalists are traitors.  Because the First Amendment means nothing to him and the press aren’t welcome in his world.

If I am a US Government employee, then I have been shown that if one dares to speak up against the corruption of this administration and blow the whistle, one’s name will be posted on Twitter and death threats will be made–because the US government exists to serve him, not the people of the United States.  

If I am anything other than White Christian American Heterosexual Cisgendered Republican, then I have been repeatedly given the message over the last three years that this is not my country and that I do not belong here, and that I should be grateful that Trump’s followers haven’t killed me yet.

So the MAGA crowd can fucking deal with being told that I don’t want them reading my stuff.

First off, let me be clear that it is not my intention to derail the original point of this post. It is my intention, however, to bring some truth to one part of it.

It is this last bit that I wish to address. Now, this happened a while ago and I don’t remember all the details, but Trump appearing to call Nazis “very fine people” in an interview was not the whole story.

As I recall, there were three groups involved. There was antifa, who was protesting (or rioting, as the case may be). There were Nazi supporters, who were also protesting. And finally, there were everyday civilians, who were protesting peacefully, as it should be done. What they were protesting to begin with, I don’t remember, but antifa attacked the civilians and, if memory serves, killed some of them as well. At some point, the Nazis joined in.

Afterwards, Trump was interviewed and a clip of his response was released in which he apparently called the Nazis “very fine people”.

Except he didn’t. Because the clip that was released was not the whole video.

In the whole video, Trump referred to the civilians who’d been attacked and killed as “very fine people”. He outright condemned antifa and the Nazis.

This is what it looks like when left-swinging media takes the truth and twists it to fit their own agenda. The media is not supposed to have an agenda. The media is supposed to record and document events. Nothing more.

Again, it is not my intention to derail this post, but I felt like I had to shed some light on that bit.

I remember.  I remember very exquisitely, and in your effort to derail this post and twist the facts to suit your own agenda, you showed your own bias.  Because he did say that there were “very fine people” among the Nazis.

So, there were two groups at Charlottesville.  There was the Nazi protesters, protesting the taking down of a Confederate monument, and there were the counter-protesters arrayed against them (also, your choice of words there was interesting.  “Everyday civilians”–as if the counter-protesters are military and therefore legitimate targets).  One of the Neo-Nazis drove a car into a crowd of the counter-protesters, killing one and injuring twenty-eight, and others were wounded and assaulted by the Nazis.  The Anti-fascists didn’t kill anybody, despite your efforts to paint them as equally to blame with the claim of “What they were protesting to begin with, I don’t remember, but antifa attacked the civilians and, if memory serves, killed some of them as well.”   So you’re a fascist apologist and you can eat a block once I’m done here.

And it is in that context–with one person dead and dozens injured at the hands of Neo-Nazis SHOUTING “Jews will not replace us!” Trump calls them “very fine people”.  He did not condemn them, he did not speak out against them, he painted them as being equal in moral standing with the people standing against the group SHOUTING “JEWS WILL NOT REPLACE US!”.  

These guys are, by his words, “very fine people”, equal to the counter-protesters arrayed against them.  

Here’s the transcript of what he said, asshole.
