jeremy knox with his brilliant smiles and steady patience and capacity for grace and kindness as a reflection of the love his team has given him. his found family, his anchor. he takes in all of their best qualities and reflects them back to show them how bright they shine. none of them are as strong on their own as they are together, and the closer they get the brighter jeremy's glow gets until it's blinding. until you could so easily mistake it for the sun. but if you saw him in the environments where there's nothing to reflect - if you saw him at home, with people who take advantage of him, alone - you can see all the cracks and hollows, the places begging to be illuminated and fulfilled.

jean curls around himself so hard that any light he might have had seems to be extinguished. don't stand out, don't draw attention to yourself, it's bad enough that you exist at all being the way you are, do you want to make it worse? drawing attention to himself has only resulted in pain, or others hurting, or both. it has put anyone he loves in the line of fire - kevin, elodie. it's so much better and safer to lock it away and hope the fire dies on its own. but it never does. despite every torturous lesson, jean never stops learning how to care and love. he never stops caring about kevin, he doesn't refuse to help neil, he doesn't ignore renee, he always thinks of elodie. there is no light for him to reflect, so any of that light must come from him. he tries to stamp it out but the trojans tend the little flame with optimism and joy and care, and by the time jean realizes what's happening, he's shining again.

jean being offered money or blackmailed by the wilshires into breaking up w/ jeremy only for him to furiously throw it back in their face bc jeremy is priceless and no amount is worth him. bonus points if they're not even together yet

Kevin's treatment and relationship to the other foxes (namely upperclassman) makes a lot more sense in the context he prob thought they were all gonna be dead / kicked out of school / ruined before that year was out.

like the best case scenario they win and riko only kills some of them along the way but not enough to end the season. the program lives another day and maybe they have enough bodies to survive another year & Tetsuji doesn't destroy the program as an ERC chair.

worst case the program gets shuttered and riko has a bunch of vulnerable people who already have the image of "Foxes", aka people no one cares about to kill / harm.
