Hello strangers.
To anyone that still comes on here, I'm alive and well. And the mom to an eight month old girl.
Quarterly âThis is what I look likeâ picture.Â
William Leathers, 17, was one of three undergraduate trumpeters accepted this year to Julliard, the prestigious arts school in New York City. But his tuition as an international student works out to over $90,000 per year - a cost he and his family canât afford.
Itâs an opportunity most young musicians only dream of, the chance to attend The Julliard School in New York City.
And William Leathers, a 17-year-old from Toronto, was one of the three trumpeters this year given that chance.
Leathers auditioned and was accepted to the schoolâs elite undergraduate music program â something that gives him a chance to learn from some of the best in the world.
âI just want to be the best musician I can be,â Leathers told CBC Torontoâs Dwight Drummond Monday.. âI want to do well in every genre.â
But his acceptance came at a cost, a $364,000 cost over four years to be exact.

Youcaring:Â Help me go to Juilliard!
Info from the page above:
âThanks for coming to my YouCaring page! My name is William Franklyn Leathers, and I was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Iâve been playing the piano since the age of four, and when I was 12 years old, I became the youngest trumpeter accepted into the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, as well as the Halton Mississauga Youth Orchestra. So it was a dream come true for me when I received my acceptance letter to The Juilliard School, since Iâm one of only three trumpeters that were accepted to Juilliard this year. The biggest challenge for me, right now, is being able to cover tuition and housing expenses. My parents are doing their best, but right now weâre in a bit of a funding shortfall. The total cost for Juilliard is $71,000 in US dollars per year for four years, which comes out to roughly $91,000 every year in Canadian dollars. Weâve been able to put together about $25,500 so far, and unfortunately scholarships and grants are harder to come by as an international student. So Iâm raising money to at least cover the first year, and weâll see where it goes from there.
Iâve wanted to go to Juilliard for as long as I can remember, and Iâll never forget the look on my parentsâ face when we opened the acceptance letter. But the reality is, thereâs a pretty big gap between what our family can come up with, and what it costs for tuition, housing, and books. So if you can find it in your heart to help, my family and I would appreciate it so much. Thanks again, and I hope to make everyone proud!

i canât believe weâre supposed to feel bad for american white men who willingly went overseas to muslim countries to massacre brown people because they now have nightmares about the children they killed. i do n o t care about you or your health please stop asking me to care i literally pray that you suffer for the rest of your life for taking the lives of innocent people i hope you never sleep againÂ
You know⊠you can care about the way war traumatizes soldiers and want to help them recover AND be opposed to the wars themselves and how our government abuses its power with military force at the same time. The ideas arenât contradicting. The vast majority of soldiers are under 30 years old. Most get enlisted directly out of high school. Theyâre still kids when they get sent off to war and to kill people. Theyâre kids who are still young and impressionable and easily pressured into doing things they wouldnât choose on their own. If youâre a 17 year old boy in the US, youâre constantly being pressured to prove masculinity, strength, and bravery in the eyes of your peers by parents, coaches, friends, girls, etc. And when the ultimate show of masculinity in the eyes of mainstream American culture is to be a soldier, itâs not surprising that so many sign up.
If you think these kids deserve to commit suicide (because we all know itâs not the brass with the PTSD) just because of who they served, youâre not edgy or âwokeâ, youâre just a pretentious asshole.
Some of you are waiting until youâre skinny to live your best life and I need you to STOP!

I cannot wrap my head around living life without looking at birds. Just watched 3 dudes strolling along and a pigeon was frantically waddling in between them trying and failing to outrun their pace but not wanting to take off. They didnât even acknowledge it. How could you not acknowledge that. It was incredible. People hear a crow and donât even look for it. What the fuck.
