Words from sun bleached flies by Ethel cain
Find a soul that doesn’t lose appreciation once they are used to you.
“Some nights you dance with tears in your eyes”
song against sex / neutral milk hotel
“when i finally kissed him the whole world began to ring”
summer poem in spring (5/20)
I collect thoughts like fireflies
dancing as I hand pick them out of the darkness and write them death sentences disguised as freedom.
Thick July air seduces me with dewdrops and I shove grass in glass jars
foolishly thinking the light will surely not die with something to feed on.
I poke holes in the lid so my thoughts can breathe life into me when the music in my head stops playing and my bare feet drag me through the silence of closed doors
where my thoughts will be dead before the sun rise can get tangled in my curtains. Tangled in me
But in the moments before my eyes become too heavy,
I watch the light show on my ceiling and pray for my dead thoughts as I prematurely grieve their death.
In my dreams they are praying for me too.
