or so she says. perhaps it’s the distance - the TIME - that her sister has been away that has caused a crack between the pair.
perhaps it’s just that amser missed idris more than she could bear.

Like there’s anywhere else in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD she would rather be, fist deep in a bowl of popcorn, watching a documentary about river otters. Well... yes, probably — she’d like to be there with the otters, splashing about with them, studying them, befriending them, but she can’t. She’s here, back in that house she promised she’d never return to, sitting on that godawful couch, pretending like her world hadn’t come CRASHING down just weeks before. "You’re like, five — you can’t stay here alone.” Another handful of popcorn is shoved into her mouth as she glances over at her sister, hesitating before responding. “I’m glad to be with you again.”

HER MOUTH opens, shuts and then thins - she’s rather perturbed with that fact that very FIRST reaction to the statement had been a spark of interest, rapidly squelched. ‘I think that I’ll pass, dear’, she snaps with a glare.
FIDDLESTICKS. She was certain that would work. Too bad, too, as she’s rather exceptional at petting ( probably because of all the pets she’s had in her day ). In a quick, frustrated gesture, Idris’ fists find themselves perched on her hips in an attempt to seem more menacing and authoritative. It hardly works — if anything, the stance only adds to her petulant persona. “—I’ll let you take me to a museum.”
‘YOU’VE GOT that look - the one that always comes before some course of action I end up regretting.
WHAT LOOK? The wide-eyed, crazy grin look? And here she was thinking that was subtle. Well, either way, she’s hardly going to give up without a fight. “I’ll pet your hair...”

But then BANG ZAP! We were off again because Thief [The Doctor] had a wedding to dance at. And dancing faster was River Song. I could smell what she was - she came from me. Once I taught her how to fly. And once I let her die. Once she loved me. Once she shot me. I could see that all at the same time. I liked her, mothered her. One day I would like to teach her to wheeze-groan without me. But the Doctor danced and River danced, and the more they danced the more trouble grew around them. Something wanted Thief because they hated Thief. They stole River’s mother, they stole River - they made it all so tangled. Thief and River were looped around each other like wool. He had a scarf once. Long scarf. It smelled of lavender and aluminium. I liked that scarf. It looked good in loops. And sometimes good stories are in loops.

Idris wastes no time, doing what she does best — wrapping her arms tight around her beautiful idiot baby like a protecting mama bird would ( if a protective mama bird had ARMS, that is ). She doesn’t like to see her Doctor upset, especially not because of her weirdness. “I like your weird. It’s my favorite weird — the best weird, even.”

She understands SOME of those words, the not name-y bits mostly, but if she LIKES it then it must to good. Her face remains blank for a while as she searches through her mind, attempting to recall what a Thelma and Louise is, and when she falls short she just smiles. “...yes.”
