One thing that remains constant even after so many years of inactivity and life changes: my TV shows. Here are a few from my recently watched/currently watching list.
Alien: Earth
So yeah, I'm not really familiar with the Alien mythos *cue boos here* and I thought it would be a good idea to jump on this show as a sort-of kickstarter to the franchise. It did not disappoint, and I found myself ready and wanting to start watching the movies.
Long Story Short
I'm not yet done with Bojack Horseman, but I couldn't pass up the chance to check this show out. It's from the same dude who did Bojack, and I can best describe it as an animated This Is Us, but with less drama, more awkwardness, and more laughs. And more trauma I guess?
Starting 5, Season 2
Season 1 gave me a new perspective on Jayson Tatum and Ant, two NBA superstars I had very little love for. This season was no different, and I now have a bit more respect for Harden and especially KD.
What Lies Beneath
Props to Netflix for featuring more Filipino shows. This one started out promising, and I'm curious to see where the story will go. I just wish they'd ease up on the acting. Some of them really go off the rails most of the time.
Haunted Hotel
The premise isn't entirely new, but it's from an ex-Rick and Morty writer so I got curious. It's entertaining and witty enough to keep me watching.
Chef and My Fridge
If you're not watching this yet, then you're missing out. The people in this show are some of the funniest, most lovable characters I've seen on a reality show/contest. Plus, amazing-looking food. What else could you want, really?
Black Rabbit
I am a fan of dark and questionable Jason Bateman. His turn on Ozark was magnificent, so I knew I was going to enjoy this. Kind of cool to see Jude Law do shady things, too.
Only Murders In The Building, Season 5
People have been complaining that this show was getting stale and while I do get it, I personally feel that sometimes, there are just some things you want to stay the same. This show is that for me, despite some uneven patches here and there.
Love Is Blind, Season 9
For the first time since I started watching this show, I didn't have a horse in the race. I mean sure, I liked Ali (pictured above) but it was more about her looks than anything else. This season just didn't hit the right chords as previous seasons did. Eh.
Gen V, Season 2
A bit tame in comparison to the previous season, but I quite enjoyed it. That swerve near the end was nicely done.
Peacemaker, Season 2
I put off watching this when it first came out for some reason. That didn't do anything to lessen my delight when I finally finished it though. The show was just well done. Cena >>>>>> other wrestler turned actors
Abbot Elementary (backlog, currently on Season 3)
Still working my way through the previous seasons. IDK what it is but something about the docu-style thing that worked for The Office and similar shows doesn't really serve this show a lot.
Bob's Burgers (backlog, currently on Season 3)
I don't even remember how or why I stopped watching because the show is fucking hilarious.
The Chair Company
I won't even pretend to understand what this show is about, or what Tim Robinson is doing half the time. All I know is DAMMIT I HAVE TO SEE THIS THROUGH
It: Welcome To Derry
One more not-familar-with-the-franchise sort of thing, but the trailers looked cool so I jumped on it. No regrets though, as despite having only two episodes so far, this show is the one I am most invested in currently. It's spooky, it's intriguing, and it's so goddamn pretty.
Special mention to my 3 anime obsessions of late: Dandadan (Season 2), Sakamoto Days (Season 2), and Kaiju No.8 (also Season 2)
