Part 1. Demons
Demons are a finite species who “recycle” there dead to create more life. Demons are also known as “the angels mockery” to many individuals and organizations in the world of RR.
ANGELS ———————————————————
Angels are beings made of metal who would often try to guide lesser life forms into greater things. As long as life had looked to the stars the angels where there with blinding light and beauty.
The angels flew closer and closer to the earth eventually forgetting how to fly to the stars. A man blinded by an angel sought revenge and created a system to pull the angels out of the sky. With the help of others who suffered the same fate as him they pulled the angel out of the sky. The blind men fashioned the metal flesh of the angel into tools. The tools created by the blind men with the angels metal had a mind of there own in one way; every swing of the swords was precise, every blow with an axe was crippling, every twist of a syth cleared the area.
The angels saw the desiccation of the body of the first fallen angel and burned themselves at the earth breaking into thousands of pieces under the earth in-order to not be turned into the tools of destruction that the blind man was turning them into. Unknown to the sentient life the pieces of metal carried with them life and became known as cores, these cores are how demons exist.
CORES ————————————————————
Cores are the life of a demon, the core is made of 3 parts.
The inner layer
Centre of the core and where most of the soul/life is stored
The shell
Protective layer of the inner layer and is often not completely smooth as many muscles and organs are touching it and connected to it.
The rings
The rings are 2-6 thick rings attached ti the exterior of the shell, these are presumed to be an artifact of the angels shape and form.
Due to being made of an angelic metal the core of a demon is technically immortal (note: if the core is heavily damaged it can not sustain life). Demons however are not immortal. The core is recycled from demon to demon and they can not be reproduced.
There is as many core types as there is metals on the periodic table, each type of core has abilities that go with it. These abilities have both pros and cons to them. There are two types of demon abilities
Passive- an ability that can’t be controlled but often doesn’t effect the life of the demon to much.
Proactive- an ability that requires thought and skill to use however it’s negatives are equal and occasionally more impactful to its benefits.
An example of a passive ability would be a demon being fire resistant, this does not mean that they can ignite it just means that fire won’t do damage to this demon.
An example of a proactive ability would be a demon who’s able to create electricity. The demon would be able to shoot electricity from a part of the body however this could cause sever burns to the skin and surrounding area. As well as this skill could not be used without practice.
LIFE CYCLE—————————————————
When demons are “born” it is known as “being dug”. This is because when a demon dies it’s body is buried underground for between 3-6 years. Within this time the core will rapidly deteriorate the body that it was once holding the life of releasing a mass amount of short half life but potent radiation. The core then restructures any elements, nutrients, and chemicals it can from the dirt around itself to create a new body. When the new body is complete it retains 0 memories from its past life with no known ways or will to recall them.
Once a demon has been dug it is simply called a “new” they come out of the ground and are quickly able to walk on all fours however they have no comprehension of language and have no visible pupil or iris and the wings are also not fully developed. In this life stage they are about the size of the average toddler and must be cared for by others in order to survive. Within 1 year a demon child is able to walk and speak in a basic way. Once they can talk they are called kids.
When a demon dies it’s body is buried underground in higher populated areas. This is because as the body decomposes it creates a radiation that demons are immune to but most other life is not. This action is a sacred thing and helps protect the large underground cities that demons live in.
CULTURE —————————————————
All of the demon cultures are different depending on there environments and what they have to live with. There are many common threads between the cultures but there are also key differences. Below is a basic summary of each of the cultures and where they are on the map.
Note: all below examples are just basic examples of the demon cultures and some are out of date
All Demon fashion have 2 things in common.
-Sentimental/ family garment
This is something on the body that is passed down from each life of a demon, this can be added onto by there family and close ones and often the colours are to remind the demon of these loved ones.
-the waist skirt and shoulder skirt
This is something that is tied around the waist and shoulders of demons and is generally made of a heavy duty and ornate fabric. The reason why each culture has at least one variation of this is lost to time but along with slight physical appearances this is how demons can tell who’s from where.
The combination of the waist and shoulder skirts along with the sentimental garment make each demons clothing unique. Being seen as an individual is something important to every demon culture and they tend to go all out on patterns of these two garments bur keep it basic for the rest of there clothing excluding ceremonial.
Demon religions all follow the same basic frame of the two sibling stars religion and have similar time frames of ceremony but all cultures have there own depictions of the sibling stars.
(Note: the sibling stars is a sacred constellation and I will make a post about it later but there is only one sun in revolution reforge)
each culture has there own flare to the gods to help young demons survive. An example of this is how soutrhen west demons depictions might have a higher emphasis on farming and making sure that the home is safe. While a northern east depiction might be scarier and explain how safety is in movement and numbers and how bad it is when livestock is lost.
Demons are unable to reproduce as they are completely sexless and possess no reproductive organs. However demons can choose to be gendered but this is sometimes frowned upon by older demons who belive that choosing to present a gender goes against what a demon is. Demons being gendered is a more modern thing (last 100-150 years) as demons have slowly taken more and more of human and harpie culture into there own.
Most demons do not believe that the angels made themselves into cores as it is treated like folklore. instead the common belief is that there was an individual or organization who designed and created the cores.
RACE /ethnicities ————————-
There are 5 main demon ethnicities but a demon can have combine traits from different areas.
(Note: ears are not a trait tied to ethnicities it’s a random gene in some cores but not all cores)
Polar -the physically largest group but also the lowest population and the only group to have fur on there wings instead of feathers of skin. There body mass is much larger then there wing size and they often have issues with flying for long periods of time because of this. Polar demons are the only type of demon that can be pure white
Western- about the same size of eastern demons although they have darker fur/skin colour and often have skin wings instead of feather wings. They have the highest population among all demons since the west is less interested in hunting them.
Costal- the physicaly smallest group of demons. There wing size is the largest of all the demons due to catching ocean winds and gliding from island to island. There is a 50/50 ratio of demons with skin wings and demons with feather wings.
South western- similar to the western demon but with a smaller wing size and are slightly larger. They also have thiner fur due to the humidity of the area
Eastern- about the same size as western demons but they have lighter fur and feathers. Instead of skin wings eastern demons have feathers eastern demon population is low compared to western demons but still one of the higher populations.
North eastern- similar to the eastern demon but slightly smaller and with a larger wing size. There fur is also thicker. This is a low population group about equal to costal.
Every time a core is reborn it slightly adjust to its environment in an almost evolving way but there an example of this is if a polar demon was reborn in the east would keep the polar size but loose the fur on the wings, After the second rebirth in the east they would probably be smaller and have skin wings as well as thiner fur. After about 3-5 rebirths the core will have become an eastern demon core.
Patterns are something unique to every demon and it’s a randomized trait, there is no advantage to the patterns other then identification in western demons the patterns are normally lighter then the body colour bur in the east they are normally darker then the body colour.
