Bars....
It often baffles me how artist these days believe that saying words that rhyme is the secret ingredient to being lyrical. Rhyming words really in my opinion has nothing to do with being a great lyricist. Anyone can can put a song together using simply words that rhyme; for example “ I stepped out my drop top, looking hot, in the spot” yes it rhymes but it’s not very lyrical right? That is the type of Bars I constantly hear when I listen to hip hop these days. There is no effort, as to what these artist are putting out. If it rhymes, its Hot! Well I am here to tell you it’s not. I am too old for nursery school rhymes! I want and need Bars that are going to make me want more of what your saying,Bars that are going to make me run that shit back a good 10 times so I can hear that sick word play you just spit! I need Bars that are going to make me feel proud to be a Hip Hop Head..... Unfortunately, NONE of that happens for me when I listen to these new artists and I doubt that it ever will! Why? because the lyrical “bar” has been set so low that I don’t believe that we will ever get back to the days when Bars meant everything! .... Maybe I am wrong.. but I won’t be holding my breath! #StepYourBarsUP

Story Telling: Hip-Hop’s Lost Component
P’s Thoughts
This morning as I was driving in to work (which is always my own personal concert) the song “I Got A Story To Tell” by BIG came over the speakers. This song is the EPITOME of story telling at it’s finest. Storytelling is one of the components I miss the most in hip hop. To have the skill to be able to put a story together, beginning, middle and end through rhyming to me is amazing. When I first heard “A Children’s Story” by Slick Rick, I knew I wanted more of hip hop like this and artist like Big and Nas gave it to me. Unfortunately, storytelling is hip-hop’s lost art form, that I wish would make a comeback. Wishful thinking I know, but I girl can dream can’t she!

Meek stop & just take the damn L!!!!
Finally Meek dropped a response to Drakes “Charged Up” and “Back to Back” diss records, “Wanna Know” dropped last night. Unfortunately, Meek fell short...okay okay shit was WACK as HELL! I could barely hear what he was saying with all the screaming, it was worst then usual. Bars? NONE.. Just 4 minutes of mediocre rhymes! I can honestly say I expected more from Meek, I mean I am not a Meek fan, but I have gotten my bop on to a few of his joints. If he wasn’t going to come for son’s jugular then he shouldn’t have came at all, he half stepped like a mother f’Ker on this one. What happened to good old rap beefs when someone went at someone and less then 24 hours later we had a response that made us be like DAMN, “what they gonna come back with next” Beefs like Ransom & Joe Buddens, Big & Tupac, Nas & Jay-Z these brothers knew how to do it. But, as this “beef” comes to an end,I guess it’s safe to say Drake wins by Knockout!
Check out Ransom’s (@201Ransom) website at www.ransom201.com where you can keep up with all the latest news regarding the MC extraordinaire, shop for Ransom-Presidential Apparel and most importantly check out his Discography including his latest release “The Lost Files” a collection of tracks that were locked in the vault.. A MUST COP!!
P’s Thoughts..... Hip Hop
Sometimes I sit back and wonder are there people out there who loves hip hop just as much as me? Are there people out there who feel disappointed and disheartened when you turn on the radio and hear artist who have no clue, inkling or conscious of what real lyrics are? My answer to those questions are yes, I know others like me exist; and like me sit day in and day out in disbelief wondering where did things go so far left? Now, I know that there are different rap styles; and artist want to be unique with their art; but somewhere along the way a line has been crossed and the damage seems to be irreversible. When people started saying “Hip Hop is Dead” I never wanted to co-sign on that statement, because I felt that it could come back from the disrespect & disloyalty artist were showing it. I also believed wholeheartedly the “underground” artists aka the “underdogs” would keep the genre respected and authentic, sadly I don’t know if I believe that anymore. Yes, those underdogs are still out here showing how it SHOULD be done; but the way shit is set up , I don’t even think they can stop the hemorrhaging any longer. The game has truly changed, elementary school bars, and catchy hooks now reign supreme over bars with substance. My 13 year old son always tells me “Mom this is not the 90′s anymore, let it go” (gotta love the young-ins) Indeed the 90′s are gone, & change and growth is inevitable but my questions is does change and growth mean tarnishing a genre that means so much to so many for the almighty dollar?

Drake - Back To Back Freestyle (Meek Mill Diss)
Drake drops another one and still NO RESPONSE from Meek! Son, 2 Diss tracks in the last week or so, and the only thing you have said in response is “ “Soft as Baby Lotion” & “I can tell he wrote that one” Come on Meek, push your chair away from the keyboard and come up from from behind your Twitter account & say SOMETHING!! #WeWaiting
