This is my #1 favorite photo from this weekend at Anime Iowa 2016 for the debut of my newest costume, Lady Rainicorn!! I had a lot of fun making the costume and I felt absolutely fabulous wearing it. <3
As a quick prelude to my last post (from like 5 minutes ago lol) Lady Rainicorn is my latest cosplay endeavor! I’m so excited to wear it this weekend at AnimeIowa! I have since finished it from when I took these pictures so I will post the final costume when I get pictures of it. :)
Since I made Lady's horn out of polymer bake clay, it ended up being a bit heavy. It stayed on my head when I was upright but if I leaned my head down or back it would fall off easily. To fix this, I just sewed a comb onto the underside and now it stays on perfectly! PROBLEM SOLVING YEEEAH.

Almost done with my Scarlet Witch coat! It’s been a huge struggle but I have to get everything else done today and tomorrow...it’s going to be a fight haha.
I finally got my plastic orb in the mail, so I tested it with the LED circuit and organza inside and it looks GREAT! once I sand it to help diffuse the glow, I think it will be perfect to use as a memory orb for my Inside Out cosplay. AAH so awesome. :D
Say hello to my torso! as part of my efforts to start making better costumes & making my own patterns for them, I decided to make a dress form out of duct tape! My awesome friend Meg helped me by doing the wrapping. I have already tried using it for some stuff for my next cosplay & I can tell it's going to be immensely helpful.
I have successfully wired my first LED for cosplay!! After I finished soldering everything, I was pretty scared that it wasn’t going to work when I turned it on, but when I did, it worked! I am so proud of myself for being able to make this and actually have it work. Next step is to put it into the plastic orb once it comes in the mail, and I will have a memory orb from Inside Out! Yay!!
Happy New Years! Last night for new year's eve I had a wonderful time going to a steampunk-themed new years eve ball. Most of the costume I wore was stuff from my closet, but I did decide last-minute to make a mini top hat since I didn't have anything to wear as a headpiece. It was actually quite easy to make! All of the stuff (including the base mini-hat itself) was found at Jo-Ann and Michael’s and I glued the found objects together on the hat, then glued that onto the headband.
Moving on, since it's the time for new years resolutions, I thought I would share mine! This year, I plan on really pushing myself when it comes to cosplay, and I plan to go to more conventions and competing at them. I have never had enough confidence or given myself enough preparation to enter a cosplay contest, but I also plan to start making my cosplays far in advance so I give my self enough time to know I will have it done.
Do any of you have new years resolutions?
Progress picture! I've been struggling over how to Flemeth's headpiece in my head for ages now, but I decided to just go at a piece of paper and cut shapes out until things started making sense. Low and behold, somehow on my 2nd try, I somehow managed to make something that looks like it! It's not perfect, but things are actually starting to make a lot more sense.
P.S. Yes I totally did just tape it to my face for this picture.
