A few weeks ago I joked with my sister saying “I can’t believe I was ever obsessed with that show”. Glee that is. I was REALLY obsessed. But during a time that I really needed that show. It comforted me and made me feel like I wasn’t alone, especially during high school when I struggled a lot with social anxiety and Glee was the one thing I was able to bond with my classmates over.

Just a few days ago I thought about how 13th of July was approaching, and even though it’s been 7 years since Cory died now, I still react to that date. Because I remember how sad I was. I cried for three days - how is that even possible, when it’s somebody you never knew in person?

And then, I saw the news about Naya. And I just couldn’t believe it. Now that we know it happened, I’m just so angry and sad. This isnt’ fair. Why did this have to happen? To her little boy, to all her friends and family. That boy is going to remember this for the rest of his life. She was young, she had a life and career ahead of her still. Why?

I’ll admit Santana was never my favorite character on the show. But many of my favorite moments still include her - because of her incredible voice and her acting performances. Rumor has it/Someone like you, Landslide, I kissed a girl, Valerie, Smooth Criminal, So Emotional... 

So many powerful scenes; Her coming out scene(s) of course, when she tells Brittany how she feels about her, her storyline in The Quarterback... 

Not to mention her comedic talent. The yeast commercial. Her cat-fight with Lauren. All of her monologues. 

So much talent. So unfair. 

Mourning Naya brings back the Gleek in me. That’s saying something, she was really important to that show. And she deserved much better than this. 

Rest In Peace, Naya. Say hi to Cory from us.
