The Saint Sulpice church on the Place Saint-Sulpice in Paris with it’s moving columns and clock.
“Calico Mingling” (1973), a dance by Lucinda Childs and filmed by Babette Mangolte performed on the Robert Moses Plaza at the Fordham University in New York. Full film here: https://www.ubu.com/film/mangolte_calico.html. This is a loop I made out of it with
Prins Hendrikkade, Amsterdam. Summer 2021.
Plantage Parklaan, a street scene in the east part of Amsterdam. This is video combined with 3D programming, to add some strange surreality to the everyday environment that I live in.
An album made up entirely of sounds that I sampled from records which I bought between the late 1990s and the early 2010s. Each track consists of eight samples recorded in an Elektron Digitakt sampler. I used the Digitakt to create the music patterns as well. To keep the patterns simple the rule was to trigger each sample just once per pattern.
My goal was to create an atmosphere of the minimal electronics records that I started to buy around 2000 and that I still listen to a lot. The sound of Mille Plateaux, ~scape, Force Inc and record labels like these.
It turned out being an album of the kind of music that I like to listen to, and at the same time represents a cross section of my musical tastes over the years.
Hortusbrug, a bridge in Amsterdam, cyclists, trams and passers by on a summer’s day. This is a short repeating video combined with 3D programming that animation in the rhythm of the music.
Music video, a short looped video collage of Droogbak, a street in Amsterdam near the Central Station. Filmed last summer, 2021.
McDrive at Huis ter Heide in the Netherlands. Pen and colour pencil.
The Spui square in Amsterdam, a new oil painting, 45 x 55 cm. The family in the foreground I happened upon while playing with the Artbreeder AI media synthesis program.

Eight wheels spin at independent speeds and hit eight tubes, triggering the playback of eight short audio files, Indonesian Gamelan samples in this case. It creates a continually changing pattern.
The speed of the wheels and the tube positions can be changed with sliders and toggles in the control panel at the bottom. Or with MIDI CC messages, from an external hardware MIDI controller for example.

A new project to explore sounds, rhythms and music created by simulated machines, using WebGL and a 3D physics engine. An app that runs in the browser, controlled by MIDI, mouse click or touch screen, depending on the device.
This is a first setup, it doesn’t do much yet. Just playback of eight Indonesian Gamelan samples and the ability to rotate the model in 3D.
The app uses Three.js and Ammo.js with Vue 3, VueX, and PrimeVUE components, and is written in Typescript.
Source files and a bit more info in the readme on GitHub. Not much yet because I just started this project: https://github.com/hisschemoller/intonarumori
Building 31 at the marineterrein (former navy yard) in Amsterdam.
Kattenburg bridge in Amsterdam, drawn summer last year.
'The Big Sleep' is an experimental AI system that generates images based on text, so I asked it to show me summer in Amsterdam, because that's what I'm looking forward to.

Pension Homeland on a summer evening. At the Marineterrein in Amsterdam.
A woman walks across Matthäikirchplatz in 2017. Filmed by me in Berlin. 3D effect made in JavaScript and WebGL using the three.js library and some help from FFMPEG. Source code on my GitHub: https://github.com/hisschemoller/video-edit-3d/tree/feature/01-matthaikirchplatz
