âAnd, annoying. Youâre giving me a headache.â
âThatâs not a particularly nice thing to say, Severus.â
âOh, yeah, you donât wanna go over THERE â thereâs like three couples making out in that corner.â
âAgain?â Remus walked a few paces closer, yelling at the offending couples. âKnock it off folks, the kids donât want to see your tonsil tennis" Returning to Peters side, he flopped hi head down on his friends shoulder, groaning. âI hate teenagers.â
âAre you alright? You look a little pasteyâŠâ
âMaybe you should sit down and eat something. I have a few treacle fudge squares.â
"Yes, I look pasty, I look tired, I smell like sweat and fear and I havenât slept in almost two days.â
âI appreciate it but looking pasty is the least of my problems right now, Arthur.â
sirius was growing restless. with each moment it built up more and more, with each whisper he felt more helpless. he was powerful, he was talented. he could handle his own. âdefine official.â
âofficial means permission from a teacher, or from me, and i want you hereâ remus knew how bad it was, could feel the tension in the air, so thick you could take a bite from it. âplease donât get me in troubleâ

B E A U T I F U L ( breathtaking of face and breathtaking of heart )
âŠ
G R A T E F U LÂ (Â grateful for his friendship, grateful for his support, grateful for his existence)
âeasy, lupin!!â ted backs off, hands raised in mock surrender â though one of them twitches to instinctively rest on his wand. itâs his own fault. he should know by now not to come up on people unawares, even decent people like remus lupin. âjust trying to help you shepherd the lambs, mate.âÂ
âsorry, tonksâ if heâd realized it was the hufflepuff, he wouldnât have been so harsh; teddy had never done anything to wrong remus or his friends, at least not to his knowledge. âthank you, i could really use the help. terrified first years and grumpy seventh years are not a good combination.â
Regulus wasnât one to sit still. He didnât want to be stuck in the great hall any longer. However the door seemed to be guarded by prefects. However it seemed Remus especially was quite busy with first years. This could be his chance. As the Gryffindor was busy sending off another first year the younger boy quickly made his way through the crowds, trying to pass.
âWhy donât you Bugger off Lupin.â He hissed back at the student as his path was blocked.Â
Why, of all people, why did it have to be Regulus? Siriusâ younger brother seemed to exist for the sole purpose of annoying him, at least thatâs what it felt like. âBecause I actually have a reason to be here by this door. You, on the other hand, are only here to try and disrupt the system with your prepubescent needs. So, I repeat, bugger off.â
Send me a "âŠ" for the first word my muse thinks of when your muse is mentioned.
Winnifred sat and watched as first year after first year tried to make their was past a very agitated Remus. A shake of the head and she rose from the ground. She passed the most recent send away and moved towards Remus as he stood. The arm came out as a shock and she gasped as she bumped against him. âIâm not, but I am part of the official âmake Remus smileâ party.â She grinned cheekily, placing a hand on his arm.
âUnless you have the news that the threat is no more and weâre all free to go, I doubt that party if very effective.â Immediately regretting the way heâd phrased it, he turned to his friend, wrapping the arm sheâd grabbed around his shoulders. âBut your company is always welcome nonetheless. Are you doing okay? Not too freaked out?â
james nods because thatâs what heâs supposed to do, though his leg doesnât stop jittering and his hands donât stop gripping each other tightly. â⊠what if it is some bloody first year, though? and what if it is something serious out there?â he wants to bust out and find the kid himself, but heâs responsible for these kids in the great hall, too. not to mention his friends, and he canât leave them.Â
âif you really think it is, then go and look. there are plenty of prefects here to hold down the fort while youâre gone, but thereâs also a pretty big search party. go where you think youâre needed moreâ they knew each other too well to bother pretending they were okay, okay with children going missing, okay with not knowing what the threat was, okay with everything. âbut just know that if it is something serious, and you get yourself hurt, i will sit at your bedside reading you poetry i wrote myself while padfoot ugly cries.â
âno, stop, just sit down, sit tight, and stop being a painâ remus sighed as he sent yet another first year away from the main doors, baffled as to why so many children wanted to be heroes. hearing someone else approach behind him, he flung out an arm, blocking their way to the exit. âunless youâre part of an official search party, bugger offâ
thereâs nothing worse for james potter than inactivity. because now heâs got to sit still, and heâs got to think about whatâs going on outside the great hall, and heâs got to imagine whatâs happened to that missing kid and wonder how they managed to slip out from under his head-boy notice. âi reckon theyâre alright. probably just got a bit lost in the fuss of getting down here. probably some first year whoâs barely learned their way around on a normal day, yeah?âÂ
remus could feel the stress radiating off james, something he usually only noticed in his friends around the full moon. it didnât take a genius to figure out why. âitâs not your fault, jamesy. like you said, they probably just got lost. you canât be expected to know where everyone is at every moment.â he leaned up against his best friends side, nudging him gently with his elbow.
â BLOODY HELL, â Â she glanced at the frightened who had huddled up near the teacherâs table. fear was not what sheâd call whatever was buzzing within her â it was curiousity. Â â i cannot stay in here much longer. the sight alone infuriates me. â
â something unknown is threatening the castle they call home. iâd say thatâs a pretty good reason to be scared.â remus looked up from where heâd been scrawling in a notebook, not meaning to have listened in on the conversation. âbut please feel free to bugger offâ
âNo offense, mate, but studying is for the birdsâ
âI know youâre a certified genius or whatever, but not all of us excel beyond the athleticâ
âYou spend far more time flying than me, Gwenog.â
âNot a genius, far from a genius. Being academic isnât everything. Look at me, do I look like I excel at athletics, or anything other than books and papers?â
âMerlin, I hate this time of year.â
âAll anyone cares about are the bloody exams. Give me something fun already.â
âStudying can be fun if you figure out how to do it right. Like, me and James used to...you donât care at all, do you?â
