valerie had known that mircella was being pursued, though she did not know the extent of what it was like. she did not know how dangerous they were, though if someone like mircella was so terrified of them finding her, they have to be pretty bad. of course, valerie was not able to protect her, though she would try her hardest to make sure no harm came to her. she knows who mircella is, how she has specific dietary needs so to speak. she has offered many time herself, though the girl has outright refused to use her as a resource for such things.
valerie had stayed back as the girl went onward, though she knew a massacre was happening. she could not stomach how people are being slain, but they were trying to hurt them, so it had to be so, right? she stood away from it all and imagined right now she was anywhere but here. blood had been kicked up and she was covered with some herself, though she wills away how her stomach churns and how she wishes nothing more than to drop to her knees and empty the meager contents of her stomach.
she had been watching from a hiding place of sorts, keeping attention away from herself as was expected of her. she was not getting involved this is not her place to. like a child holding a stuffed animal, she had gathered the small creature to her as she witnessed this event. she had it cradled in her arms, her eyes clenched shut as she heard the squelching noise of blood and viscera and the thudding of bodies hitting the floor. when the coast was clear, she set the bunny down, shell shocked and near frozen from what she has seen.
â dâdead âŠ.. râ-right. â her voice is almost non existent as she gazes around her at the carnage. she lets her focus rest on the other girl with the bunny in her arms, the image so nice and sweet, though after what just happened, it was haunting. taking a step more into the area where mircella is, she swallows thickly. â mâmay i ⊠can i hâhelp yâyou wâwith âŠ. with câcleanâcleaning up ? â she feels about to be sick, not at her friend, just the loss of life.
She hated having to bring Valerie into all this. This was her mess, her life, but sheâd allowed her friend to be a part of everything. âIâm sorry,â she whispered. âI can do this; maybe you couldâŠtake him home and then rest a little? Iâll try to be back before morning.â Mircella took a few more steps to be close enough to her friend â her only friend â and hand the bunny back. A thin smear of blood marred the rabbitâs white fur, but it was from one of the bodies and not because sheâd wounded the little animal. Aside from Valerie, Mr. Wiggles was the other living being she truly cared for, and she didnât want to see either of them hurt, let alone hurt them herself. There was one other reason why she was suggesting that Valerie go home: it was her way of giving the other a chance to run. To change her mind about the friendship they had and return to a more normal, less stressful life.
Mircella hadnât missed the look of disgust that had briefly registered on her friendâs face, and she knew that to anyone else, this scene looked like a senseless massacre. Only those who were aware of what the entire cult had wanted to do to her might understand, and even then, they could have argued that not everyone deserved to die. It was a conversation and a damnation that she didnât want to have with Valerie in case it ended with the two of them finally realizing that they were never compatible and that they had been forcing this friendship. âPlease. Just go home. Iâll be okay, I promise.â
That was something honest: now that she didnât have to look over her shoulder, she knew without a doubt that everything would be okay. No one would end up hunting her down and killing her in some twisted revenge scheme, and she could live the rest of her life the way she wanted and deserved. The floor was covered in inchesâ thick blood, which clung to the bottom of her shoe and felt like molasses whenever she lifted her foot. It was also slippery, but she managed not to lose her balance as she turned from Valerie and began picking up the guts that had spilled out onto the ground.
