âColin could think of a hundred different reasons why kissing Penelope Featherington was a very bad idea, the number one being that he actually wanted to kiss her.â
âimagine saying this/showing this to a victorian childâ. old, unoriginal, overused. Now âimagine saying this/showing this to Anthony Bridgertonâ. bold, audacious, he would combust into a million pieces at the concept of a self checkout in Walmart.
imagine Queen Charlotte being told she has to scan a QR code to look at a restaurant menu or scan her receipt at steak n shake to fill her soda cup. sheâd order the cashier to be beheaded.
anytime I go to a restaurant or see some newfound way of making life âeasierâ at restaurants or stores, I briefly think about what Anthony Bridgerton would feel if he had to do the same thing and then I know heâd be just as irritated as I am and it makes me feel rationally calmer

when I was a teenager I had someone very important in my life say, when talking about a war going on in the world:
âI, too, was like that at your age- thinking everyone deserved a chance, that everyone has a right to happiness, and that you should help people no matter what because itâs the humane thing to do⊠but youâll grow out of it as you get older and realize life doesnât work like that.â
And all I could think when they were saying this to me was- I hope to God I never, ever think that people in this world arenât worthy of empathy or arenât worthy of happiness because they believe differently than I do or were born into this world under different circumstances. I was appalled that someone so close to me- who preached to me that kindness and love were paramount above all else as a child- would say something as cruel as that. That having care and compassion for injustice and atrocity was somehow a chore, or a trait you outgrew from youth. It turns my stomach and makes me feel disgusting to think that there are so many who feel this way, especially so many religious people.
People have a right to exist in this world, they deserve to have happiness, and it is not a deplorable trait to have empathy and compassion for those who are suffering due to the greed of governments, corporations, etc, etc.
I hope I never lose my ability to care for others. I hope I never lose my ability to want good and happiness and a comfortable life for others, even if it looks differently to my own happiness. I hope I never lose my ability to simply feel for other people.
Someone has probably already said this, but I realized that Colin never dances in Season 3 until itâs with Penelope. And we even get two hints as to the gravity of that symbolism through Benedict:
one, when Miss Stowell corners Benedict into a dance but Colin canât be convinced by any of the other ladies to get on the floor (even when they overtly try after the balloon rescue), and
two, when Will Mondrich makes that comment about âone dance and youâve signaled you are availableâ.
Colin was completely genuine in his disinterest in the marriage mart this season and stood on business by explicitly refusing to dance with anyone outright. Which means, in the previous seasons, he totally understood what dancing with Penelope would look like, and he did it anyway. (Because he loved her already and didnât mind the insinuation, obvs.)
In fact, the only time he gets on the dance floor before getting engaged is to interrupt Penelope and Debling â another subtle signal that he was thrusting himself into the marriage mart, but only if it was going to be with Penelope. Not to mention, man couldnât stop dancing the very second he was engaged to her.
Anyway, my point is, Colinâs been in love with Pen forever and to them, dancing is a far more intimate an act than it has been to any other couple and I love them for it.
Did some bird flap its wings over in Dorne ? đ„
Iâm already frothing at the mouth at having a season where itâs immediately love at first sight for a Bridgerton like Benedict is already on his knees for Sophie and he ainât even said one word to her yet and has simply admired her in awestruck wonder from across the room like the romantic artist he is!!

itâs the way I know weâre getting Eloise and Francescaâs seasons (slay I canât wait) but Netflix will most likely cancel after that and arguably the best books for an adaptation (Gregory and Hyacinthâs, respectfully) will get left in the dark and paid dust bc everyone always forgets about them and their phenomenal love storiesâŠaurkay

Iâm curious on what the show runners goals were with teasing the first two seasons of Benedict being interested in men and then having him fully give in to the intrigue of being with one intimately if theyâre not going to mention it or have it be apart of the plot in s4 ya know? Like I really donât see them exploring it further in s4 since we know he ultimately ends up with Sophie and there wouldnât be a way to incorporate his liking of men/being bisexual into that relationship (unless they throw some sort of curveball or come up with something that I just canât think of atm) but I guess Iâm just wondering what their goal was from the beginning of even teasing it if it was ultimately not going to go anywhere or be part of his main plot if he ever got his own season.

Eloise: I spoke to Penelope-
Colin, attempting to be completely calm and collected and show that heâs not vibrating at a frequency that could shatter a skyscraper window at the mere mention of Penelope : omg thatâs so great and cool and spectacular love this for you guys anyway did she say anything about me đ€

âyou have to work to earn your right to live in this world sorry thatâs just the way things are and itâs never going to change.â we built this world from the ground up over thousands of years of toil and strife and have been through countless systems and societies built on the concepts of ideas and dreams for better lives. we can dismantle these systems brick by brick if we have to- the concept of there being no other option for life has never been inconceivable for the dedicated yearner and hope-seeker.
