I feel that the purists of the Bridgerton books should be grateful that the series isn't a faithful adaptation of the books; most of the male romantic interests are misogynistic jerks who treat the main female character with disdain until they fall in love with her (and when that happens, they fantasize about having sex with her as if they were prostitutes)
