Bryan & I took Mylo to Fisherman’s Cove in Manasquan. They have a dog beach. In Loving Memory

A little over 4 months since MomMom left us- still get in my car at the end of my day and think- "Got to call MomMom and tell her this- she'll get a kick out of this.." Then almost in an instant I remember this is not a reality for me anymore... And I tear up and move on for a moment... Miss her calling to check up, or ask me to come down for lunch, or take her shopping- or fix her TV... I miss the feel of her hands holding mine- or her looking me in the eye and telling me every time I saw her in the last year & a half- "Heather- you know- people told me to wash my hands of you... (I had a hit a rough patch- in my life and to say I was making poor choices in my life- would be an understatement... No excuses- just reality.) but I look at who you are today and I'm so proud- and you- you turned out to be a pretty great woman." And I just miss her. Her letting me know the speed limit was 35 when I was doing 36- and reminding me I had my little old grandmother in the car...or asking about Joseph C. Kerr III & April Kerr and how that beautiful Tinleigh was doing... And of course discussing the obvious genius traits of every Detweiler great grandchild in our family- and of course how well Carrie Kerr Fuchs & Jacob Fuchs were fostering their little genius Zachary! 😊😂. And then she'd show me all the pictures she had printed down from any that Aunt Carolyn or I had stolen from Facebook of the great grandkids- and all her grandkids... To say she was proud of her family-would not do her love justice... And she'd ALWAYS ask about my mom- her daughter- & make sure she was doing well... Toward the very end... The driving back & forth was getting to be exhausting physically and emotionally-after working- & knowing the end was coming-but honestly I'd do anything today- just to see my grandmother- listen to her tell me stories of how she meant PopPop over and over again- and how she told him at one point to get out of her life- she wanted nothing to do with him- & how they got back together again...- or the successful military cares her 2 sons had...(She told Bryan Wu all the stories and more when she met him.) Dying is a part of life. And grief is a part of losing someone you love-But I'll do a few things- to honor her legacy- I won't give up on my family even when they disappoint me- as I have disappointed them-I won't work so much I forget to make memories and laugh, but when I do work- I'll work hard and remember I'm blessed to have a job that I love and that I get to love & help children grow for a living, I'll keep praising God even when I'm in in the eye of the storm, & I'll drive 2 hours and try and fix someone I love's TV- even if it's just that the cord came loose and needs to be replugged- because tomorrow might not come for one or both of us....and I'll do it with joy. Yup longest Facebook post ever- but I needed to write it & Tumblr was not cooperating. ❤️
