(* perhaps it was her own fault that she got into this mess. Maybe if she had not jumped the gun, she would be with her student on their merry way back to the base. But no, she was here. Confronting a hellfire officer, like the headstrong idiot she was.) You could consider that I am but, isn’t that what this whole exercise is? One big waste of time? (*she readily rolls her eyes at the response she receives. figures. the sparks catch her off guard but, the do very little to the dermal. There’s a small visible scorch but, it’s easily mended.) Now aren’t you the one wasting time?
( ` it seemed to be the general consensus from those that weren't a part of the government that the military exercise was a big waste of time. but to the ones that were actually involved, it was getting a lot accomplished. there wasn't a need for her to explain herself to anyone, nevertheless a mere student who was being too obstinate for her own good. in sojin's eyes, she was lacking the ambition that mutants should have — it was rather irritating if she thought too hard on it. ) "for you maybe. but the purging has been very cathartic for the majority." ( ` she eyes the girl's arm when the sparks flicker up against it, leaving a bit of an abrasion that could easily be fixed. she nods to herself, clearly interested in what the girl had to offer, but without much of a warning, she sent down a concentrated wave of electricity onto the girl. until she could figure out the extent, she was simply going to toy around with her ) "i have a lot of time on my hands since pests aren't that difficult to rid of."

[ » “I know what you are, Red,” is what the woman had uttered to her once, a palm pressed almost gently against her back, fitted neatly over the giant X on her skin that represents her worth, marking her like the point of interest on a treasure map— the cold breeze that had stiffened her spine back then is incomparable to the terror that grips her bones now « ] [ » if Bomi didn’t know better, she’d think that she must have mistaken this woman for the one back then, who seemed almost good-natured and kind-hearted, but whose words were laced with foreboding, telling her precisely her position of temporary safety, for she lives only at the mercy of her, the lieutenant of the Hellfire Club, who is but a dog of the Brotherhood, but to whom Bomi is even less than a dog « ]
[ » she tells herself to get up and run, that maybe she’ll be able to at least put some distance between them given her own speed and size, and prolong her life just a few minutes longer— but she’s frozen on the spot, unable to loosen the hold her muscles has on her frame, the very prisoner of her own terror « ] [ » instead, her eyes are on the moving lips that count down to her demise, the words playful in the morning silence, the one that curls into a sinister smile that tells Bomi exactly what this situation is to the other: a game « ]
[ » the countdown is over, but Bomi hardly hears it over the pounding of her heartbeat in her ears— she sees it instead, on the moving lips and the demon that looks straight at her, the one that sees her through her cloak of invisibility « ] [ » her legs are moving, she’s running, turning away from the sight of the two figures, the demon and his puppet-master; the cloak clings uselessly to her body, but she keeps it on regardless, convincing herself that it’ll help even as the sounds of her footfalls reveal precisely her location « ] [ » but she cannot allow herself to crouch there and be caged, and so she runs « ]
( ` sojin was indulging into her own needs and desires, completely disregarding the duty that she was supposed to uphold. it is, admittedly, a hard thing to balance out when there is another being inside her body that is threatening to take over when she least expects it. polaris was someone who shaped sojin into someone who she was — headstrong and even obstinate in her own ways. ironically, she kept her around because she brought out the good in her. there were moments when she didn't agree with how polaris would execute her actions, but at the end of the day, she got the tasks accomplished, which evidently made the government pleased. after all, until sojin was at the very peak of the hierarchy, she was another puppet being controlled by a master. ) "i suppose we can play hide and seek." ( ` polaris softly mutters, watching the demon go rampant and about, attempting to seek out the girl under her own safety veil. her ears catches the sound of the collapse, causing her to let out a soft laugh as if she was warning the girl to be more careful. she hums a familiar tune to herself and easily saunters over to the general direction of where she had last heard the noise from the careless girl, simply following the trail of scent before— ) "i told you to be more careful." ( ` her fingers easily wrap around the wrist of the unseen girl, her eyes flickering in another shade of red to assist with the disadvantage that she had with the small girl. in one swift motion, she pins the girl onto the ground, pushing her face against it to prevent her from making any unnecessary movements. ) "isn't it unfortunate? but perhaps you'll be blessed in your next life and be born as one of us."
lady luck —
the facade that she was putting up to conceal her true feelings in regards to the matter on hand was making her sound more and more like her counterpart — polaris. sojin desperately wanted to hold onto him, perhaps even beg so that he would stay by her side throughout the lonely journey, but she knows better than to involve someone who had detached himself from her long time back. there is always a sliver of hope that she held onto, just in case the day actually came. if that were to happen, she was more than ready to greet the other with opened arms. "it's because we've known each other for so long that we play the game." sojin eyed her temporary companion for a moment, attempting to read past the obvious superficial emotions he was toying with. perhaps it was the years that separated the two of them, but she could no longer identify what he actually wanted to get across to her. the announcement that echoed throughout the ship brought her back to reality, reminding her that it was not the time to get nostalgic over something she could never have. she ran her tongue over her dry lips, her ears perked until the end of the announcement before turning to look at howon— and she gave him a smile. a genuine smile that didn't hold any significant feelings against him. "stay alive, lee howon. i want that drink you promised me way back."

HELLION DRABBLE MEME: Leave me a mutation in my inbox and I will write a drabble for our characters based on it.
Internal rupturing: one character saves the other character’s lives.
Bakeneko physiology: one character has died, but is brought back to life by the other.
Body dismemberment: one character temporarily loses their body part, found by the other character.
Taint generation: one character has been infected with a disease and the other risks catching the contagion.
Hellhound physiology: one character has lost their sanity due to grief and the other must help calm the former down.
Dwarf physiology: both characters have been tunneled in underground for several hours with no means of escape yet, they have to figure a way out together.
Stinger protrusion: one character must poison the other character to death by betraying their trust, write about the moment of betrayal.
Size enhancement: one character becomes abnormally large one day and needs help navigating the city, the other character has been enlisted (or unluckily recruited to help).
Prehensile hair: one character’s hair has grown a mind of its own and has begun doing things according to its own will; the other character has fallen prey to the whims of the first character’s hair.
Pheromone manipulation: one character has begun releasing an uncharacteristic amount of pheromones, causing the other character to take an attraction towards the first.
The situations may seem kind of whacky and unusual, maybe a little difficult to write about, but I’m sure everyone will come up with some ideas in this mutant infested society! Feel free to reblog this drabble meme and start sending each other messages.

(’ her smile widens tinting at some mischief from ear to ear — she knew her manipulation hadn’t worn off yet and planned to use it to her advantage until it did ) you’re paying for me then! (’ she manages to pat the older girl a couple of times before being pulled down the corridor — it was probably a given by now though that sojin would offering paying for the both of them even if seolhyun strongly rejected it. she was poor, but she could still support herself when necessary. plus, it was really only for a good joke ) where are we going?
(’ her try-hard are-you-kidding-me face once again summoned itself and managed to live on her face for a few quick seconds ) are you really asking me about class when you know i’m not really the best student out there (’ she laughed while playfully shaking her head ) but if you’re expecting an answer, it’s been okay. probably not much different than when you were here (’ she was well aware of sojin’s strong tie and constant nostalgia whenever visiting the school. it was sometimes worrying to her senses, but seolhyun just went with the flow and the older normally just spilled out whatever she wanted to say about it )
( ` it wasn't a lie that sojin wanted to go back in time if she could. life was a complicated thing after becoming an adult and the only thing to solve that is to go back and become a child again. it wasn't impossible — there was someone in her department who would rewind a person's age, but she was far into her life now that it wasn't worth turning back. ) "you make it sound as if you have ever paid for food when i'm around." ( ` she says with a smile. her emotions might have been tampered with, but the words coming out of her mouth, when the sugary coat was taken away, was still from the same old park sojin. ) "ah, i see. study more and maybe it'll get better." ( ` with a laugh, she links her arm with seolhyun's and gently pulls her down the hallway and to the outside world. the day was beautiful — a perfect day to sit out and enjoy the weather. ) "the usual place? we can sit out this time."

(* Jiyeon clicked her tongue in annoyance. This was definitely not going as planned. But then again, even the best plans go wrong and her own plans were far from well laid. She caught the change in eye color and then the sparks. Such a curious mutation, not such a singular ability like most. Force fields, sparks and god knows what else. This was going to be difficult. Very difficult.) Now, now officer. There’s no need to be hasty. You could easily let me go and come after me in a day or two. Besides if I’m not mistaken, you’re partial to mutants and as you can clearly see, I am one. You could probably use the down time to go chase and beat a defenseless human. Or better yet, go beat a red. (* Things had now gone fully awry, luckily her armor covered most of her body at this point.)
( ` sojin was nowhere close to letting polaris take over just yet — there was no reason to when her supposed opponent was a student attending xavier's. she is, evidently, her junior and hurting a junior was frowned upon. but playing around with them? there wasn't a law that prohibited such thing. ) "are you just wasting time?" ( ` she asks, motioning over to the prints on her arm. they were, admittedly, very interesting. she remembers reading about it in one of her files and it dealt with the manipulation of carbon. she grins and gives the girl a shrug as she continues to speak as if she was completely aware of who the elder was. ) "i already did, sweetie." ( ` and with a flick of her finger, just to see the effect of it, she sent the sparks up her already covered arms. was it as impenetrable as it seemed? )

six years ago, she had never expected him to back away from the opportunity that he had been given. she had expected him to be by her side, every step of the way like he was expected to. can you imagine how powerful they would be if they were partners? their colleagues used to muse because it was more or less the truth — the two of them could have gone down in the next history textbooks for their feats only if he had lingered long enough for it to actually happen. yet, it wasn't the power or the recognition she wanted if he had decided to stay around — those were things that she could acquire on her own with some time — it was his presence that she yearned for when things got too difficult for her to handle on her own. her eyes lowered, recalling all the times when she had to push through on her own without the help of others around her. they assumed that everything was alright; she was a woman with power, after all. sojin let out a small scoff and looked back up at howon with a raised eyebrow at what he was saying to her. instead of retaliating like she normally would, she took a step forward. and another. and another until only couple centimeters were left between the two of them. "more the reason i would do that, idiot."
with that she easily backed away from him, the space the two originally had returning to its original state. she pushed the strands of her hair away and looked around again at the people in the distance; anxiety , excitement, anger, it was all there. sojin laughed at the irony behind the exercise and turned back to look at the other, only to find him invading her personal space once more. "stay away from me and you'll live?" she grinned at him and reached up to pat his head, "be a good boy and listen for once, howon."

cheap goodbyes (sj/ms)
did she strike to people as a woman who was clueless enough to be sweet talked into believing all the illogical aspects of the world? if so, there was something she was doing wrong and it wasn't taken lightly for herself — she had determined earlier in her years that she was going to become the next commissioner general of hellfire, yet, she was being taken lightly. her father would surely say more than unkind words when he sees her in such situations. she had to be authoritative in more than one way possible. "kim minseok, was it?" she easily drawled out the name, stopping inside the building with her hand still secured around his wrist, "do you think i'm dumb?" the incredulity in her voice was more than evident and the bafflement that was plastered across her face was even more emphasized than before. there was no specific reason for to be angry at the man who was attempting to end his life only couple minutes ago, yet — "community service? is that what you say to someone who just saved your life? maybe i shouldn't have said anything and let you do your thing," she straightened her back and her eyes flickered with a flash of red before settling back down into its original brown, "but i felt sorry for all the people you were leaving behind." and that was all that she needed to say before she dragged him down the stairs, the curves of the hall, and right into her apartment complex. sojin pressed her back against the front door, looking at minseok with a warning look that shouldn't be taken lightly. in exactly thirty-two seconds, however, the warning look was replaced with a small smile as she made herself over to the kitchen with a lighter air around her. "i hope you're hungry," she easily says, glancing up at him as she fills up the pot with water, "ramyun is our best friend, no?"
❝ holding hands ❞ ⇢ mark & sojin
there was yet to be an incident in the department where the officer inflicted pain upon another with his ability, which indicated that he was getting the basic idea for controlling what was a part of him. if he did cause pain to her, however, it was going to be something done unintentionally. he had a lot of catching up to do in comparison to the others who were rapidly understanding the concept of their powers, but with mark, that wasn't the priority. sojin simply wanted him to see that he could actually achieve the things he wanted if he put enough effort into it. ah, she was sounding like a mother. with a soft laugh to herself on the idea, she patted the boy's arm with ease and gave him a small look. "is that a nice way of saying that you want me to pick someone else?" the teasing in her voice didn't match the rather intimidating aura she had built up for herself in the past, but she was willing to tone herself down when it was needed. she looked at the others who were curiously looking toward her direction and raised her eyebrow at their actions. "did you not hear me the first time? if you don't want to die out there, i advise you to focus on what you're doing," and with that, her voice was back to the demanding tone the others were familiar with. "you have to be bold out there, you know." it wasn't a warning, but it was something more of an advice that she was giving to mark. he wasn't allowed to back away when the real thing was happening before his eyes — that was dangerous. "so i'll be with you on the first day."

(* At the sight of the new person, she immediately grabs the mutant by the collar of their shirt. she emulated danger and this was not exactly how anyone wanted to go.) No, this is not what they’re taught. Right? (* She responds as dark look is sent to the student in her hand. She pushes them back to the other two mutant none to lightly. Then, realization dawns upon her. The stranger looked familiar for a reason and it wasn’t a good one. immediately, she signals for the trio to leave her and to turn back to base. Her face is neutral as she return her attention to who she knew as a hellfire member.) Quite well if I do say so myself. Though, I can’t exactly stop to chit-chat, officer. (*Graphene slowly begins to form down her arms.)
( ` she admittedly has no clue what the other team's missions are, but that doesn't mean that she isn't amused with how well they are doing for themselves. a good portion of the team consisted of the students from xavier and that alone gave her enough of a reason to be proud of her juniors. ) "no worries, i would let you carry on—" ( ` she starts, her eyes catching the sight of graphene forming against the skin of the girl's arm. it isn't what she is expecting, but she can't help but to let out a laugh at how interesting everything is turning out to be. her eyes flicker with different colors a couple times before settling on a gold. sparks begin to form around her as if a storm is quickly brewing. ) "—but i have to take you in, i believe."

( ` there was two different possibilities behind the exercise the majority of the city was participating in: it was a test for self control or the brotherhood was getting fed up with the non-mutant population. she doesn't know if the purpose behind it will ever be revealed, but until she rose to the very top of the chain, she was yet another willing pawn of the government. ) "..." ( ` one thing, however, is for sure. sojin — polaris — is miserably failing in the self control category. her hands are already stained with the bloods of many, but the deaths of many aren't enough to quench her thirst for more. her red irises warn that she isn't looking for any captives — if found, she was going to demolish anyone and anything on the spot. she glances around the premises, her slow walk coming to a halt before she begins to smile. it's eerie; it's as if the devil possessed her and was using her abilities for his own good ) "ah, i know you're here." ( ` she drawls out the word, her eyes fluttering close. she feels her familiar presence. polaris can easily requip the spirit that is a part of her so that she can see the fugitive, but that wastes her precious time and she can't have any of that — she will just have to make do with what she has. instead, she mutters out incoherent words under her breath and opens her eyes back up. ) "i think it'll be easier if you showed yourself rather than making my friend get you." ( ` her summoned demon isn't where she wants him to be just yet, but if the girl was smart, she would show herself and make everything easier for both of them. )

it was finally happening. couple of the higher ups who had been aware about the upcoming supposed military exercise, had been notifying certain individuals in the department. it was through that sojin was able to grasp what was going to happen in the next three weeks or so. they said it was necessary, it always had been necessary, but why did they pick this certain timing? there was a specific goal that the higher ups weren't telling them, but she wasn't going to probe — she was going to find out through the said exercise. her eyes scanned the room filled with the other officers who had just received the notification of the upcoming processes. the same letter was in sojin's hand, but she didn't bother herself to open it up when she was aware of the information that it contained. her eyes suddenly met with another officer's who was looking at her intently. rather than saying anything, she kept her eyes on him and ushered him to come over. she knew who he was — she knew who all her officers were — but he seemed to the one that had the same views as her, which made her relieved.

blood of multiple stained her hand to a dark red, mirroring the color of her irises. once she got herself started, there wasn't a way for her to stop. sojin, hence, worked the same way as momentum did — she was only going to continue gaining speed until another force collided to forcefully stop her. at this point, she didn't exactly know if she even wanted to be stopped. the extermination was, after all, what she was taught and raised to believe, was it not? sojin diverted her direction, purposely taking a different path than her target was. she was oddly familiar in so many ways, but she couldn't put two and two together when other major problems lied ahead of her. she stopped in her tracks, letting out a soft curse under her breath when she couldn't feel the target's presence anymore. this, admittedly, was a rookie's mistake that she would surely be yelled at if the general found out. with a frustrated sigh and a mental scolding towards herself, she wetted her dry lips before heading back out to the main street as if nothing had previously happened. she wasn't going to worry about anything for the rest of the day. her body was aching and was demanding a quick pit stop for a rest that she couldn't avoid for much longer. sojin stuffed her hands into her pockets and walked against the current of the few that were heading down the street, her mind wandering off into a different world until— "ah, i'm sorry." her sneaker covered foot found itself causing yet another problem by stepping onto a long fabric of a skirt, causing the stranger to jerk forward a little. it was then when a familiar wave of scent hit her. sojin glanced up, her eyes scanning the figure. "wait—"
