One time in karate class one of the instructors was like 'Move closer to name, won't you? She doesn't bite', and then she barked like a dog. I'm not saying I think that lady moght've been a therian, but she might've been a therian
AMAZING RECOMMENDATIONS, THANK YOU!!! I agree people should read more comics, and I'm happy to see the Legends of the Dark Knight rep in there with Batman: Prey, to that point, a lot of the Legends of the Dark Knight series, especially the earlier ones, I think are pretty good for someone wanting to start out with Batman but being a little intimidated by the continuity (which is a common complaint I see on here about why they haven't started). As you probably know, that series is an anthology series which means a lot of the short stories contained within the issues are all separate from eachother; episodic if you will.
To that point also, a lot of the Batman: Black and White comics are also anthologies, and are even shorter, so if you want something character focused without having to worry in long running arcs then I recommend it for beginner readers.
ALSO ALSO Batman: the Cult is more Bruce Whumpslop!!!! That I love!!!! He has a mental breakdown in that comic for complicated plot reasons too, and this time, robin Jason is there!!! It too has its problems (it can get a bit too edgy at times in my opinion when it comes to the violence, in a way that feels less "gritty" and just more "excessive"). Keeping that in mind though, I do still think it's worth a read, if for anything else purely for the crazy storyline.
Sorry for rambling in your inbox I just thought maybe you'd want to share some more, but of course feel free to delete this ask if you want. I just want people who talk about comics to read more comics lol
Jahsunejfishxhnxndjxhshs this is the first ask I've ever received thank you thank you thank you I wish upon yee fortune and good tidings forever
Uuuuggggghhhh I have totes been meaning to get around to Batman: The Cult, because I need to figure out what Jason Fraud's deal is so I can write him properly

Attention All Tumblrinas Who Engage In The DC Fandom But Don't Read Comics Or Anything For Some Reason
If you are reading this and the above message is applicable, this is your sign to read some gosh darn comics. There's some pretty good stuff in there if you successfully swerve past all the misogyny and grooming and character assassination.
To be more helpful, I'm gonna provide you with a list. It's going to be mostly Batman because the doctors are unsure about my neurotype and I know what I like, and reasons will be provided
–Batman: Prey
Have you ever wanted to read a story about Batman having a really bad time and also having to deal with a psychologist who really shouldn't have a license who also has weird attitudes towards women? No? Too bad. Bruce Wayne whumpers, come get your slop, because he canonically has a mental breakdown in this story for complicated plot reasons
-The Absolute DC Line of comics
I know most people here are at least performatively liberal, so go read DC's Absolute line. Batman dropkicks a five year old, Superman is an edgy twink guy who eventually gets around to being a symbol of hope and stuff, and this version of Green Lantern goes through toxic yuri
-Mother Panic
Is this only on the list because Violet Paige is my baby? Yes. But, she's an alty bisexual with a one-sided rivalry with Batman, and she has some of the most fantastic vibes ever
-Batman: Arkham Asylum: A Serious House On A Serious Earth
Me personally, I like to interpret the story as a really weird nightmare Bruce is having after a little too much chemical exposure. Subjectivity aside, it's about Batman going into Arkham after the villains have taken over, and it's crazy and trippy in a fun way
-Tower Of Babel
It's probably kind of weird to say this, but the ending did make me cry. While not exactly a sad story per say, it details Bruce making one of the biggest mistakes ever and hurting his friends a lot due to his own issues. Also, this was the 90s/early 2000s, so Aquaman/Arthur in this story looks awesome as Hell
-George Perez Wonder Woman
It's got its issues, but it provides a pretty solid grasp of who Diana is as a person. Also, it has a very nice kind of patina, very aesthetic. It was the 80s, so there's obvi some commentary on the Cold War, with the overarching message boiling down to 'war is stupid and everything would be better if we stopped trying to kill each other'. Note, I've only read the first volume, so...
-Batman/Superman by Jeph Loeb
This is, hands down, the best thing Jeph has contributed to the world, except for that other comic I guess. Bruce and Clark are so gay in this series sometimes, you people have got to read the annual with the cruise. Superbat shippers eat good with this one
-Mark Waid's World's Finest
This series is currently ongoing, and best described as Batman and Superman coparenting their adopted teen son Robin. It takes place during the days of Dickbin, and has this perfectly balanced tone between whimsical comic book shenanigans and genuine peril. It also makes a point to include more lesser known characters like Metamorpho and The Doom Patrol
-Batman: The Long Halloween
Twobats annnnggggst. Oh yeah, and it's ultimately a tragedy about Gordon, Bruce, and Harvey trying their damndest to helpthe city but only managing to have one type of villain swapped out for another
Obsessed with this quote from The Batman 2004
"I just hope that one day I'll get to meet the man behind the bat."
"Who says I'm a man?"
Like-
AHAHAGAHSGAHAGA what the bajeebus did Bruce mean by that?
Bruce Wayne is a cryptid confirmed.
Or... 🏳️⚧️?
I came up with this idea in a sleed deprived stupor, but like, imagine a scenario where some plot convenience magic dickhead has put a bunch of superheroes in this reality show type setting. I'm only proposing this because one of the challenges would involve two big circles printed on the ground, one is labelled gals, one is labelled guys, and anyone who's not in their corresponding circle is teleported to the right one and then killed, but like, not really, this magic dickhead is good at giving people pseudo deaths. Anyways, everyone starts in a third circle, labelled idiots, and then they have like, ten seconds to make run for it into the right one. Basically everyone makes it (RIP B'Wana Beast, he got turned around and died), but then Batman gets bisected, and magic dickhead shows up out of the aether to say "Because I am a progressive magic dickhead, the categories were based off gender identity, not AGAB. Looks like dingbat here didn't get the message.". And then he dissappears to harass time sheep or something. Bruce's right half is in the gals circle, and the left half is in the guys circle. He's still alive by the way, and somehow he's not in any pain, but this is still not fun for him.
Later he gets accosted by someone (spin a wheel to decide who it is), and then after a bunch of Bat–WafflingTM, Bruce tells insert person here that he is actually a they, and they just never planned on telling anyone.
Whatever, I hope you enjoyed my mad and deranged brain fart
I believe in nonbinary Bruce Wayne
Bruce storms into the compound, covered in snow. He confirms he is alone in the room and therefore the others must be deeper inside. He shakes off the snow and rappels down the elevator shaft. The elevator isn't present because it was earlier projectilified by Clark. Bruce lands on his feet and taps his com.
"Superman, where are you in the building?".
"Just down the hallway. Also, wow, the soles of your boots are almost falling off.".
"More work, less sassing, you cheesy bastard." Bruce chides.
He moves down to the door with the heat vision marks and puts the poor thing (barely hanging onto its hinges) out of its misery by dramatically kicking it open and making it fly across the room. Clark is arranging all the mooks in a pile for ease of access.
"For the record, that was a neutral comment.".
Bruce rolls his eyes.
Clark gives him a onceover.
"Are you cold? That was a stupid question, you look like you're about to keel over and die from hypothermia.".
"Hyperbole is a truly atrocious look on you.".
Clark steps over to him. "Well, am I wrong?".
He casually ungloves Bruce's hands and gives them a squeeze. The warmth radiating off of Clark contrasts heavily with Bruce's corpse-cold extremities.
"Is this necessary?" Bruce drawls.
"I don't know for sure, but you'd probably have a much more difficult life if your hands fell off.".
Bruce lets out a small 'tt' but doesn't pull his hands away.
When Clark decides Bruce's hands have been appropriately warmed, he pulls his hands away and radios Arthur. Bruce pulls his gloves back on, flexing his fingers as the sweat on his hands interacts horribly with the lining, causing an irritating tingle. He looks over at Clark, who is presumably using his x-ray vision to see how Arthur's making out, and wonders if it'd be worth sticking his hands in the snow for a few minutes.
Bruce Wayne - DC Comics
Is it a therian?
Yes, it's a therian
Yes, it's a therian, but not the kind the submitter thinks
No, but it is alterhuman
Sure, why not
I like this headcanon, but I also like seeing it depicted as orthohuman
No, I don't view it as a therian
I don't know this character but it has therian vibes
I don't know this character
animal/creature: Bat
reasoning: He's very into being percieved as nonhuman, and there's a comic panel of him hanging upside down for no real reason after being given Superman powers and therefore able to hang upside down safely
submitter note: I actually think of Bruce being a copinglinker specifically, but I also just generally vibe with him being alterhuman in general
tag: @hmm-stuff-i-guess
Nah, I'm not shutting up about Copinglinker!Bruce Wayne. Let's talk about prey drive.
Bruce, I imagine, has a garagantuan prey drive. I mean, when your copinglink is so strongly associated with predation and whatnot, it's almost inevitable. He probably used to be kind of grossed out about it, but after oodles of character development he probably is much chiller about it.
It definitely applies to humans, like, Bruce will see someone running, and have to summon all of his willpower to not leap after them if he doesn't know who it is/it's a crook, but it probably doesn't extend to appetite because of size ratio. What does trigger his appetite though, mostly small mammals and insects.
Someone, write this for me, I'd do it but I have so many things to write
My Weird Girl Esoteric Niche Cool Bitch Nerdy pet peeve is how all crossdressing in fanfic and fan art is meant to be for sexual purposes, and this is clearly a very ridiculous thing to be bothered by, but sometimes a man just wants to feel pretty. My way of combating this complete non issue is by tending to draw Batman in lolita inspired fashion because one of the main points of lolita is that it's not meant to be sexually appealing. Disclaimer, I think it's fine actually to draw Batman in risqué dresses, but give me variety dammit. Blah blah blah, sexualization of femininity, blah blah blah, gender roles, blah blah blah, woke stuff
It is absolutely so important to me that people understand how fucking obsessed and insane the founders of the Justice League are about each other. (This applies to the founders of the avengers, too, but that’s a separate post)
I feel like with the fact that most people’s exposure to them is through movies nowadays and because movies are so constricted to being only a few hours because of short attention spans and just expectations and etc etc, moviemakers have to add in the ‘relationships’ as a second thought- unless its a romance plot- or as background info, and that leads to people viewing them as more “co-workers who happen to hang out because of force and not choice” and not “fucking insane found family members who are genuinely so codependent and obsessed with each other its narsty”
Like.
In theory J’onn doesn’t go into anyone’s brain unless they give him permission, but he does what Clark does with Bruce’s heartbeat and just like… hovers in the background of all his fellow founders minds sometimes.
Hal is watching a show he likes?? “Jordan this is the part-” “FUCKING HELL J'ONN LALALALALALA I TOLD YOU STOP SPOILING IT FOR ME-”
Barry is working a case and mid conversation with his police chief and J’onn has a question? “Barry have you seen that show Brooklyn 99?” and Barry has to pretend he’s not having two conversations at once
Bruce is taking a walk through Gotham with his team, working on cleaning up the harbor and better plant growth and etc etc, all of a sudden a wave fucking drenches Bruce, head to toe, and he’s standing in a fucking crowd but he’s the only one wet and then Arthur’s head bobs to the surface and he goes “I talked to the fish and told them to spit at you, bitch.” and for a month Gotham is out for blood.
Hal and Clark come off a mission with some younger heroes and they have absolutely no regard for privacy (really, who is she? She’s not invited) and just immediately- in the main hallway, in front of everyone- start having a screaming match about what went wrong during the fight and how fucking stupid was he to jump in front of that blast he could’ve handled it, yea well he did handle it, you fucking psycho you’re not invulnerable, you arrogant shitstick that doesn’t make you invincible, yes it does- etc etc and then Clark just lifts his arms in frustration and the kids around them flinch, wide eyed, certain they’re about to watch a murder, but Hal just groans and sacks forward, slamming his head into Clark’s chest and the alien doesn’t even twitch, just wraps his arm around his shoulders and drags them both to the infirmary
Bruce and Barry have a heated debate about the ethics of using cloned human meat to solve the world hunger problem in the middle of the showers
Batman comes off a mission with mostly younger heroes and Hal greets him in the hallway and immediately starts yelling at him for something and Bruce just throws a punch without even looking at him, and Hal dodges it and keeps fuckin talking and follows him to the med bay
Arthur is having a special ceremony underwater and all of a sudden Diana is just there, floating in the water and signing at him and he’s signing back and they just fucking leave together and abandon the ceremony
Wayne Enterprises is throwing a Gala celebrating fifty years or smth idfk, and all the other founders show up and wedge themselves between Bruce and anyone else and just spend the whole evening being loud and obnoxious and constantly touching him and dragging him around and being really rough with each other too- but Bruce is beaming and laughing and shoving them back and Gotham has never seen their prince like this… joyous
They’re just fucking insane. They have screaming matches in front of diplomats and slam each other into walls and throw punches and are really rough because they’re the only other people who they know can handle it and they can truly be so violent with and still be okay, and just.
Just the Justice League founders being a lil unhinged with each other and everyone else watching them wide eyed and a little scared
Want it need it
I like the idea that Bruce no longer really feels human on account of various factors. Ultimately though, it came down to him surrendering humanity at some point, choosing to become something else so he may be a creature made for stalking and pouncing. It's an inverse of what Clark has going on. He's physically nonhuman, but sees himself as human, just not quite. To contrast, Bruce is physically human, yet will always consider himself something else.
Bruce is a pretender. Only when he's prancing around in suits and behaving civilized, of course. It's a thin veneer that hides ferality.
Question for copinglinkers! Could you tell me about your experience? What you link, why, how you figured it out, stuff like that? I am.. considering some things.
Kirk Langstrom Appreciation Post
Peak, I approve this post. Kirk Langstrom is a train wreck of a human being/bat guy and he's perfect
Bruce that went non verbal after his parents death because he couldn't deal with having to hear the same voice that screamed for hours on end in the puddle of his parents blood.
Bruce that went to train young, and actually was just torturing his own body into obedience.
Bruce that was his master's favorite student, but also the most feared everywhere he went.
Bruce that at every turn, realized that he wasn't considered human by those who held power over him,and that they were trying to kill him because training him was a mistake.
Bruce that became batman to prove to himself that loosing his humanity was worth something.
Bruce that adopted Richard and realized how different he was from a “normal human being”.
Bruce that slowly pretended to be normal again, that tried to eat 3 times a day(even though he usually went days without eating),that tried going to bed everyday because his children needed that human support.
Bruce that got called “the most alien-like human” by those who he held dear because his human side is so deep buried and hidden that he barely exists anymore.
AAHH THIS POST IS ALL @nikiexe0 fault (〒﹏〒), them and their Bruce depression making me evil.
