But of course they don’t WANT to have to pay their employees more than they have to, do they’ve conned these gullible people into thinking that raising minimum wage will “force” the company to downsize (it won’t), and conversely, that a lower minimum wage is somehow “creating” jobs (it’s not, they’ll still staff the minimum they think they can get away with, and anyway, who cares about job creation if those jobs don’t allow you to live).

Economic problems are not the hourly employees’ faults. They’re generally not even the store managers’ faults. It’s pure greed from billionaire CEOs who have manipulated everyone into blaming the poor people instead of the rich people.

And so when you introduce a mandatory one-size-fits-all price floor into a company’s independent business model of what they allocated for their labor needs, it sends some serious shocks into their business operation.  They have to make drastic changes which often result in reducing hours, increasing consumer prices, or reducing staff.  That’s what this simple cartoon is conveying.

What’s further humorous about your response is that many of these fast food businesses are actually franchises in which the local owner determines what they can pay, not corporate headquarters.  And even with chain businesses, they generally have independent regional or local management that determines pricing for labor in different given locations.  Anyone who tries to make an argument based on greed being the culprit usually has no clue what they are talking about.  They are making an emotional argument and not an economic one.
