Honestly, I’m still figuring out aspects of Rick’s backstory too so I feel you hahaha and he’s also 100% wide open plotwise as a result ;DDD  But, here’s what I do know:

rick, b. 1885 grew up super poor in the slums of late-victorian london it was terrible

had a younger brother and sister

things looked up when they got fairly respectable jobs bc they were intelligent and hardworking and more opportunities were coming for ppl of their status at that time

worked various odd/weird jobs

both he and his bro fought in wwi, his bro died, he was wounded but survived

obv wwi + grief + his injury did really fun things for his psyche

tried to go home afterwards but was pr ‘shell-shocked’ and just couldn’t handle it so he went back out to join up w various mercenary corps etc

was in poland w these guys when they came upon a boginki - the ppl in his corp kept being bodysnatched and replaced with changelings

eventually, rick and another two guys realized what was happening and that the creatures were coming for them

they fought the changelings and the boginki

only rick and one of the other guys survived

they ran to the nearest village looking for help for the injured third one but the village was terrified by the boginki and wouldn’t let any strangers in, afraid it was a trick, and the guy ended up dying

after they left poland, no one would believe them, not even rick’s sister who believed that this was all a wild reaction to their brother’s death and all the things he’d seen

she tried to get him help meanwhile his friend became convinced they hadn’t seen anything and decided to drink himself to death

Beyond that, I’m not 100% sure how things worked out, but my general thought is that he met up w some other hunters (possibly gresham hunter(s)) and one thing led to another and now he’s here.  His sister may even have tried to get him help and he may have been in a fun post-victorian psych ward *thumbs up*

In any case, I do think his relationship - and whether Michael would know - all depend on how long Rick’s known him????  Like, if their bff-ery is newer, I think Rick is less likely to breach the subject bc 1) Michael might think he’s crazy and frankly Rick is over dealing w that hahah 2) he wants to keep Michael safe and considers ~knowing about the spn to be unsafe.  However, if he’s known him longer, there was def a point where Rick was being all OMG LOOK OUT THERE ARE SOME FREAKISH SPN CREATURES OUT THERE ALOS THEYRE REPLACING MY FRIENDS HERE OMG WTF WE NEED TO KILL THEM ALL and wouldn’t shut uP about it etc so obv if Michael knew him back then, he’d know hahah  In between these times, there was also a period where he would’ve been reticent about it right up until he got to know you ~super well and then in a leap of faith he might tell you…so there’s worlds of potential on this one hahaha

So all of this brings me to the question…How long do you think they’ve known each other?

NAYWAY, I def feel like Rick kinda feels him on this bc I feel like 95% of the time, Rick’s super chill but then he has things that FLIP HIS KILLER SWITCH and he looses his temper so I feel like Rick knows pr well how to handle that and it gives him some v real insights.  Alos!  My main point about his backstory was acTUAlly that they’ve boTH lost ppl horribly and I actually feel like in Rick’s case, at least, that would be a big bonding thing yknow like ~someone else who feels this pain~ sort of dealio??????????  Like, Rick isn’t great at sharing hahaha so someone just sort of knowing what it’s like without him having to say or explain is huGEEEE esp bc he can’t really get things off his chest?????? if I’m making sense????? hahaha

Anyway, there’s nothing in this world Rick wouldn’t do for Michael he loves hm so much I’m so lasdkjaflkdsjkl fjadskjfkljdslkjf our boyz <333333333  Also them talking each other down (and also them burning things dowN together lbr ;D) is my aesthetic too brothers from another mother aldjflksdjkflj <33333333

Okay so I’ve been thinking more about Micheal and this is what I got -- 

I think he was an orphan at a young age -- like six or seven maybe??? 

anyone he grew up alone in an orphanage after that it was fun

he eventually did fight in the ww1 too???? was possibly also injured??? could have met rick when they were convalescing??? or they could have met later???? 

i do think that mike may have grown up in ireland tho so i doubt they met when they were kids

also i don’t think he does know about the spn b/c I think if he did, he’d also be a hunter??? like he has no family and like 1 friend (s/o to rick :) ) so he has nothing to loose by hunting so he def would??? 

so if rick had told him they could be epic hunting partners lol 

but I can also see where mike would have been super skeptical if rick had told him and probably would have attributed it to everything rick’s been through if rick couldn’t offer him proof so that wouldn’t have been fun for rick haha so maybe it’s best that things are the way they are ???

ANYWAY but yeah I agree and I think some of their shared experiences (aka loosing love ones/fighting in the war, etc.) would def help to bond them. :DDD

BUT YES THE SAME FOR MICHEAL!!! I mean yeah rick is literally??? his only/?? friend?????? so he would do anything for him and just wants him to be happy but lol he’s a little too cynical to hope for that and instead just wants to keep moderately okay b/c that’s the best he thinks that they can ever get lol

Hahaha I’m just taking a moment to picture the priceless expressions on everyones’ faces the first time he lost his temper at them dsfad dslkfjksldj slfjksldjlfkajsdlkjf  Honestly, that’s probs been another factor in it all bc Margo’s probs pr eager to avoid that in future *praying emojis* (if it’s happened yet atp ofc)  Honestly, she’s pr highstrung herself, in some ways, and has exacting #expectations for how everything should be, so I feel like she would go into MAD MOM MODE all GO TO YOUR ROOM THIS INSTANT and IM V DISAPPOINTED IN YOU (but @everyone tbqh) basically smdh when he looses his temper so thAT might not go so well hahaha 

But in general I think she’d v much appreciate and respect his expert opinion and be all *rolls eyes* ‘come now children we didn’t come from half a world away to blow up hamunaptra before we’ve even got a chance to look at it which is the whole reason we’ve got mike on in the first place’ basically so I feel like for the most part they’re pr much on the same page!!  And she’s just so glad to have an actual expert on this bc I feel like in her early days she was on at least one dig where the explosives weren’t so neatly handed and yeahhhh

hahahha it’s gonna be great b/c I think he’s generally quiet/keeps to himself and then he juST EXPLODES (i feel like i should/could make some kind of pun here since he works with explosives???? or maybe using explodes is a pun?? idk my brain is dead does it show haha i am both tired and a lil tipsy #whoops) 

OMG but i also just love that margo goes into mom mode lol :-) i feel like he needs someone to just yell @ him like “i’m gonna count to ten and if u don’t calm down now there will be consequences for you later, young man” i mean he will still yell back at her b/c once he looses his temper it’s a mESS and good luck calming him down b/c everything just makes him more upset until he finally chills out but honestly if someone can get him to leave (even in a huff) tbh all he usually needs to calm down is to remove himself from the situation since i feel like 9 times outta 10 the thing he gets upset over is something really insignificant haha and its just been this build up of tiny things v. something super important??? 

BUT yeah he’d def be like “thank god” @ margo when she’s like “chill out” to other ppl b/c if she can keep everyone else chill, chances are she’s gonna keep mike chill too haha

okay so michael would def respect howard a lot!!! he def seems like he knows what he is doing ++ he certainly would appreciate someone who is gonna ask intelligent questions re: explosives, haha, since it sounds like there are def some archaeologists who are like “just blow x thing up so we can get to y!” and michael’s already explained to them millions of times why it’s not safe to do that haha. (ofc micheal doesn’t realize that howard is a hunter and that’s probs why he’s interested in asking those kinda questions ahah but y’know)

Ok, so Margo and Michael are sort of on opposite ends of this operation, if you will, but they’re on the same page in that they’re the same group and I so I’m certain they interact, etc.  Margo highkey respects Michael and his work and his opinion!!!!!!!  And I mean they’re def working towards the same goal, so she’s v much keyed into all of that and making sure things go the way they all want.  I also feel like she’s v willing to help mediate when he’s like ‘you can’t blow x or something terrible will happen’ and other archeologists are impatient and like ‘idk!!!!’ etc so basically what I’m saying is I def think they’ve got potential for a great working relationship, if nothing else!

okay he def would highkey love that she’s one of the ppl who would help mediate between michael && crew and the other impatient archeologists haha b/c michael can be patient sometimes but most of the time I feel like he’s just like “UGH NO” @ ppl like that b/c he’s literally an expert on explosives and you can’t just blow up everything like that’s not!!! how!!! it!!! works!!!! and I feel like things have the potential to get ugly with michael when you push his buttons haha so yeah having someone like margo there to help smooth things over is def a good thing for everyone :DDD
