Introducing the "Harmony Time Loop Fest!" With over 20 prompts you can find here, this fest encourages writers to explore scenarios where Harry and/or Hermione are trapped in a time loop.

Timelines tangle, but our duo have each other to rely on as they learn to navigate through it all. Must Include:

A time loop of some sort. It can range from a single hour repeating, to a day, to a week, or even years.

Either Harry OR Hermione OR both can be in the loop.

Harry/Hermione pairing only.

There is no minimum word requirement.

The soft deadline to start posting for the event is tentatively set to end of November, but the fic doesn't need to be completed by then.

The truth is that Ron already lost Hermione at the moment when she chose to die with Harry rather than live with him for their future together.

Alright, but I was thinking about the scene where Harry remembers Hermione during the commotion caused by the troll.

Parvati had told Lavender that Hermione was in the bathroom, so it's safe to conclude that at least two or more people besides Harry and Ron knew her whereabouts. It's understandable, of course, to forget such things when there's a commotion all around and people are panicking and rushing to their dorms for safety. Yet, despite all that, Harry remembers. Neither Ron or anyone else, but Harry. Why?

Guilt could have played a part. Harry personally felt responsible for Hermione's absence, since if it wasn't for Ron's remark, she might have been at the feast. Yet Ron felt guilty too, since the text describes him as "awkward". Still, it's not he who remembers, so guilt alone isn't enough. Is this just Harry's “saving people thing”? Maybe in part. But that only explains why he went back, not why he remembered at all. For that, I think his past matters.

Harry is a victim of abuse. Thanks to Dudley, he grew up in school with no friends. He is used to being left out. Ignored. Forgotten. To the point, where he tries to shrink himself to avoid being noticed, because the alternative meant pain. Now, don't get me wrong, he found Hermione just as annoying as the next person. And even if it was the consequence of her own actions, he knew more than anyone, what it feels like to grow up disliked and bullied by peers. He may or may not once have been in the same position as Hermione was in the bathroom. I'm not saying Hermione has it as bad as Harry, but they have been on the same boat of having no friends at one point. And that's what Harry sees. He didn't need to like her to understand her. He knew exactly what she was going through at that moment. His past has made him incredibly attuned to other people's pain.

Harry went through school being chased around by bullies and left to his own devices. Yet, no one ever stepped up to help him or console him or offer him company. No one ever thought of him. That's why he thinks of Hermione. That's why he tells Ron they had to go back. Because he remembers Hermione the way no one ever remembered him. Harry would have gone back for Hermione whether or not he sympathised with her, so did Ron — that’s beyond the question. But the fact is, he was the one who remembered. That doesn't come from chance or 'good memory' but from empathy and keen observation born from years of being ignored and overlooked. Bravery explains his actions; empathy and awareness explains why his thoughts turned to her to begin with.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why I will always defend Harry Potter.
