Day 2113: finished! I cleaned out some of the green stuff then painted it to match the rest of the skin. I also did a tiny bit of work on the skin on the legs to add some small highlights and break up some areas of skin
Day 2112: almost done! Some small highlights on the skin and then used green stuff to stick the broken arm back on. I'll trim off the excess tomorrow and paint around it to make it match the skin and then it'll be finished.
Day 2111: quick bit of painting on the claws before focusing on the bloody parts where the spines are bursting out of the back. Gave them a few pink glazes and then added a bit of gloss varnish to the last one to make it shine
Day 2110: gave the mushrooms a thin, pale brown glaze and likewise for the claws and spines. Spines will probably get some extra red or pink at the bases where they're closer to the broken skin
Day 2110: painted the mushrooms on the sign (may darken them down once they've dried) and made the letters look a little more worn. Then glued the sign down and added some glossy muddy green paint to the sections closest to the water. Didn't do the other mushrooms since the tiny dots of mod podge are too hard to see
Day 2109: painted lettering on the sign, did some quick mushrooms in mod podge which will hopefully work. Once I've picked out those, weathered and glued on the sign the base is basically done. Started work on the teeth and claws on the model. After that it'll be skin, gluing on the broken wing and it'll be done
Day 2108: quick bit of thinned gloss on the grass in the water and then some small highlights on the wooden sign followed by two dirty green colours (one dark and brown, the other pale and yellow) to make the sign look worn. May try add a mushroom or two with a cocktail stick and glue before I try the lettering
Day 2107: quick layer of brush on primer on the parts of the sign where the glue was preventing anything from sticking, then some brown paint overtop. Also used some static grass to look like grass in the swampy water
Day 2106: started painting the sign, the paint isn't sticking to the bits where the glue ran over, will need to figure out a solution for that. Also plopped down some shrubs, tried to shred a shrub to look like reeds but it wasn't quite right, might use static grass
Day 2105: dulled down the highlights on the swamp water since I've realised it shouldn't look too much like flowing water. Trimmed the sign and snapped it in half so I've now glued it back together
Day 2104: Did some quick highlights on the swamp water then covered the water and some of the muddy recesses in a mix of watered down dark green and brown paint and gloss varnish
Day 2103: popped off half the sign and then carved it a bit to shape. May need to trim the tail a little, it's maybe a tad long. Highlighted the swamp water and mud, then felt they looked too bright and dry so added some dark brown and muddy green washes to their recesses
Day 2102: painted the muddy sections of the swamp base a dark blackish brown and started carving a wooden sign out of an ice cream stick. It's still far too large for now but it's getting there
Day 2101: more work on the base, extra layer of mud that will need darkening down and some glossy swamp water painted on
Day 2100: Building up the base a little more, leaving the wing off for a bit to get easier access
Day 2099: Miniature took a tumble and lost a wing, tried to glue it back on but it fell off again so some green stuff will be needed most likely. Got some work done as the start on the base, want to craft a little wooden sign I think to stick near the stones
Day 2098: Did a glaze for the shadows and centres on the wings, then a thin highlight on the raised, textured areas. It's not as smooth as I'd like, ideally I'd have a smoother transition to the shadows and the highlights wouldn't stand out quite as much. Gonna give myself one more day and then move on
