New Year’s Eve

Perhaps the saddest I can remember. I do have some hope for the future, but 2019 will be a time of endings, admitting defeat and letting go. Starting again from the beginning in a new town, unknown. Alone.

Prayer

for all who are alone this Christmas season. For the ones who know that their lives could be so much more, who feel trapped, and don’t know how to escape, how to start again. Give them hope, let them know the love that comes from God, the source of all love. Wash away the sorrow, the sin, help them to see the world as it is, not through the distortions of pride. Take this scarred, worn heart, make me new. Purify me, O Lord, with hyssop, then I shall be clean. O wash me, I will be whiter than snow. And let me be an instrument of your peace. I can do nothing without you. As we celebrate your birth, O Lord, you who made us and gave us a heart to love and serve you, Teach us to love the Lord our God, with all our heart, and with all our soul, and with all our strength, and with all our mind, and to love our neighbor as ourself. Love, the whole of the law.
