Fighting Chance | Galactus & Fighters
Everyone began to scatter, and he chose to continue following the three fleeing down the hallway. They were the targets that didn’t try and hide themselves away like cowards. He would teach them to run from Galactus.
As he ran, his shoulders slammed into pillars, and they tumbled down beneath his feet. He had no problem turning them into rubble as he stomped through the palace, chasing after the Asgardians. They didn’t even bother trying to fight back, they just kept going. He gained on them, swooping down to try and snatch one of them up - the one with the shield. But he evaded. Puny mortals; the only advantage they had was being small.
Something didn’t feel right once Galactus followed them down the grand staircase. It felt like a trap. Like in the few seconds they had to speak, they came up with a plan. It wasn’t the first time a planet tried to team up against the mighty Galactus, and no matter what they had in store, he would survive. They had his gem, and he wasn’t leaving without it.
The three Asgardians led him out through the front doors of the castle where he stood out on the rainbow bridge that led through the city and beyond. They all stopped before him, and that’s when he felt something in his ear. A sharp pain went through his whole body as he felt his ear pop and he yelled. What is this sorcery?!
He dropped to one knee.
“If we’re both alive after this, we’re getting drinks. So stay alive, okay?”
Fandral heard Dakota’s voice coming from across the hall and he turned his head right as a bunch of debris was falling from the ceiling. A rock smacked him right in the face and he stumbled off to the side as Galactus rushed past, following behind Hogun and Steve. He regained his balance, he picked up the pace and ran to catch up with the others. He would definitely be having a word with her after all of this was over.

She felt Peggy’s hand grasping at her, trying not to lose her in the darkness that swallowed them up and took the other woman’s hand in her own. It was almost ridiculous, really. Memories when Frigga had made them all hold hands as children to keep them from getting lost came trickling back and Sif had to smile a little before pushing those thoughts to the back of her mind. Now was no time to get lost in nostalgia.

As he noted one of the agent’s exchange with Fandral, Hogun found himself slightly regretting that he had not taken the time to converse and mingle with them as his friend had so often attempted to bring him to do. It wasn’t until a few seconds later that he noticed Fandral’s absence from his side and hazarded a glance back to see a familiar blur of green dodging between Galactus’s feet.
He felt a large boulder come down hard on his left shoulder with a solid crack. Hogun gritted his teeth and continued running, hell-bent on trying to stay ahead of the behemoth that was gradually closing the distance. A sharp tug on his shirt nearly pulled him off-balance as Fandral yanked him towards the grand staircase. Confound these stairs. He was almost tempted to take a flying leap to the landing if only to go down them faster.
Where is Captain Rogers. Hogun swept his gaze back and forth, taking in everything as it rushed past him in a blur. The splash of blue in his peripheral vision that told him that Steve Rogers was perfectly capable of keeping up with Asgardians. The stark emptiness of the entrance hall wherein every footstep and jarring crack of stone echoed and ricocheted. Fandral rushing forward in a sudden burst of speed to force the heavy palace doors open.
Hogun barrelled into the door with his shoulder and threw his weight at the door to help his friend open them faster. Wrong shoulder. Even with adrenaline pumping through his veins, pain still lanced through the left side of his body.
An ear-splitting roar made him forget his pain entirely and he turned to see Galactus howling and the ground shook yet again as the giant collapsed to one knee. Hogun turned back to the towers and stared hard at the battlements, trying to see if Lady Sif had made it.
“Hogun.”
He directed his attention to Fandral.
“We need to retrieve Janet after the first wave.”
The grim warrior nodded curtly.
