Rebecca quickly bent down, picking up the item on the ground before studying it carefully. She’d stumbled on what she’d assumed to be a rock but the tinkling sound that had followed had made her believe that she’d dropped something— although now it was clear that she most certainly hadn’t. Her eyes flickered through the crowd, trying to see if it belonged to someone nearby. Nobody seemed to noticeably be missing anything, and so she gave up, instead racing after the person who had been in front of her. “Pardon me, but did you drop this?”
