hi there, this is my silly little blog. my name is volta, but you can call me whatever you want, idgaf. i am some artist on the internet who enjoys heavy metal music, duckman, metalocalypse, character creation and more. ask me about my interests! i also have a lovely girlfriend, and i am ND.

i don't interact too often aside from posting and liking stuff. i am very reserved and timid, so don't expect much interaction from my end. i try to come out of my comfort zone, tho

oh my god it’s been a long ass time since i’ve posted in my tumblr but!!! I FINALLY AM. anyways, happy ace week 2022, as someone that is asexual demiromantic now >:D those who are ace spec are very valid and cool y’all are amazing

i decided to go with making something magazine-esque for one of my black metal characters, considering that he is aroace!

 i did something like this for pride month with one of my other guys, so i thought i’d do it again with him. i’m very happy i did something that took more effort than my last ace week piece from last year. 

i also added the other version without the magazine-esque features. just my boy stand-alone.

(P.S. the metal scene is not an actual magazine, i just made up the name because why not)

pink-spotted hawmoth (Agrius cingulata). Florida, 11/16/21

Found in the southern US and across the neotropics, this species looks very similar to co-occurring sphinx moths in the genus Manduca, but it’s more closely related to several old world species including the famous death’s head moths (Acherontia) than it is to any other sphingid from the Americas. Its caterpillars typically feed on plants in the morning glory family, while the adults nectar on the flowers of those same plants.

moths like this provide an example of a defense strategy called startle coloration- nearly invisible when camouflaged on bark, the moth will flash its bright pink markings if it is found and disturbed, potentially startling a predator long enough for the moth to escape and making it less likely to be found again when it resumes its resting position and ‘disappears’.

FINALLY decided to dabble on some animation... it’s pretty small but i decided to take things to the next level after i had to animate eyelashes one time :0c i’m pretty proud of it! i don’t think it’s the best but i think i did okay for my first try
