INDEPENDENCE

          it was a simple gesture, one that he should have been used to after becoming friends with someone like Akehoshi, but receiving a hug from Anzu was...different. it could have been the fact that she was a girl, or rather the only girl, that he had become so familiar with that made it easy for him to ( hesitantly ) wrap his arms around her shoulders in response. perhaps it was the explicit appreciation being projected with her embrace that made his face grow warm at her words. or rather, the validation that what he was doing was indeed something he had been doing right. regardless, it was a tender moment, and one he hoped he wasn’t spoiling with his overthinking.
