Thanks for 100 followers! Looking forward to seeing Klance become canon with you all.
Shiro’s perception of Keith and Lance in Shiro’s story
I find Shiro’s perception of the elevator scene to be seriously funny. Like, he sees the two of them as… this.
I know it looks strange. Their expressions look really odd and completely different from what we saw in the show, but I can assure you that this is entirely on purpose. This is how Shiro sees the two of them.
Shiro knows Keith. He knows that he can be self-assured and a bit of a smart ass sometimes, and we know from the show that Lance helps bring this side out of him a lot more because of their “rivalry”. Keith’s face here looks like a mixture of smugness/cockiness (based on his lowered brows combined with the dopey grin) and exhaustion (lines under eyes and slumped shoulders).
In contrast, Shiro does not know Lance that well. We can see here based on his expression that he looks nervous based on his raised brows combined with the way he is holding onto the towel around his shoulders. Not only that, but he is also smiling, meaning that the nervousness isn’t necessarily due to something negative.
Also, how does Shiro know about the elevator scene? Did Keith tell him? Maybe we’ll find out in S8, maybe we won’t.
In short, Shiro sees Lance as someone who gets nervous around Keith. Why is that?
hahaha
isn’t it crazy that Keith and Lance picked each other at the end of the gameshow?
It’s almost like we’re actually going to get endgame Klance–
hahahahahahahaha

The Feud: Lance’s Endgame
Here’s how The Feud points to Lance’s endgame.
I suggest you read this post for an in-depth look into Lance’s role as the romantic protagonist
To begin, I’m going to explain why Lance is a beautiful dumb-dumb. While it is definitely mean, there is a reason behind it, however convoluted it may be.
The word dumb grates on Lance’s insecurities. We know that Lance is quite the insecure person. We also know that it hurts his feelings based on his reaction, and by extension, it also hurts the audience (us, not the one in Garfle Warfle Snick); it makes us sympathise with him.
The dumb comments serve to destabilise Lance’s thought process and make it even harder for him to think clearly; we know that he wants to prove that he isn’t as dumb as they think he is but inevitably answers the majority of the questions incorrectly.
He just… really isn’t good with names. Unless they happen to be people who have left big impressions on him; aka, love interests (Plaxum, Nyma) and leaders (Kolivan, Bi-Boh-Bii).
Slightly off topic, but: who was the one who recognised Keith in the dark from a far distance in the very first episode? Even though it had been a year since they had seen each other and Keith’s face was mostly covered up?
“I’d recognise that mullet anywhere.”
It was Lance.
We know from Lance’s Story that he has a lot of feelings regarding Keith’s mullet and it has started to grow on him. This started happening around season 3.
Anyway, back to my first point: the only person he correctly guesses from his first game is Bi-Boh-Bii, and we all know what happened when he couldn’t win the second game.
Emphasis on the word “Bi”. Could have been “Bii” or “Boh”, but it wasn’t. This links to Lance’s bisexuality.
Don’t get me wrong, I love him to pieces, but that doesn’t mean that he isn’t a beautiful dumb-dumb. The dumb comments also serve as hints to Lance’s apparent ignorance/confusion over his developing feelings for a certain grizzled paladin, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t making progress on recognising them. He’s getting there.
Moving on.
See those ovals surrounding the board? Red, blue and pink - Keith, Lance and Allura respectively. The blue oval is in between the red and pink ovals.
Throughout the game show, Lance is placed directly in the middle. Keith and Allura occupy opposite sides so he is placed at an equal distance between the two of them - this is another link to Lance’s bisexuality.
The colours surrounding the board (red, blue and pink) link back to Lance being between Keith and Allura. Do you see where I am going with this?
The colours on the board didn’t have to be those specific colours. They were chosen for a reason and I’m willing to bet that it was to further emphasise that Lance is stuck between Keith and Allura, his two love interests.
Who does Lance pick at the end of the episode?
Keith.
And he refers to him as “the future” with one of the most smitten/fond expressions he has ever adopted in the show. I could write an entire essay just analysing and comparing this face to all of his others, but I want to make this short and get to the point.
Pidge looks genuinely confused. She really wasn’t expecting Lance to pick Keith, much like how a lot of the viewers would have been expecting him to pick Allura as the obvious choice. Like, come on, the guy has been gushing over her for who knows how long, so surely he would pick her?
But here’s the thing. He didn’t.
We know that the writers are fond of shock value. This episode just serves as a reminder of that fact, and it’s done pretty well; it might seem like a specific ship may end up becoming canon because of specific scenes (aka, the blush scene that occurs in the latter half of s7), when that isn’t actually the case and the endgame is something else entirely.
Here are a few hints: who is the person who has been proven, time and time again, able to support Lance as much as he supports them? Who is the only other person aside from Allura that Lance has been able to be truly, emotionally vulnerable with, enough to feel hurt when he is pushed away by them? Who is the only other logical endgame to Lance’s romance arc?
Answer: it’s Keith. Lance chose Keith, and Keith chose Lance.
To conclude, Lance is a beautiful bi, and kick. Have a nice day.
KICK
Just your daily reminder that Klance has a very, very high chance of becoming canon!
