reconseaweed:
Chondrus focused his attention to the battle-worn starter, mentally documenting the pokemonâs behavior and appearance for later use. Heâd be more than happy to inform Phyco or Dulse of his discovery! Perhaps they would be happy about the news as well, though this did depend on the off-chance that the fellow recon members already had knowledge on the keel pokemon. Still, it was the thought that counted, for him.
âO-oh,â he murmured when Incineroarâs stubborn head butted against his arm, something he had seen rockruff do when they wanted physical attention. He gave in tentatively, starting to massage the big catâs cheek with his warm fingers, âIncineroar is a good pokemon? That must mean it has respect for you, Kahuna. From the pokemon that I have seen, many display kindness if they respect their trainers, though there are few exceptions to this rule,â he assured as he shifted his gaze from pokemon to kahuna, kahuna to pokemon. He had no intention of neglecting either, nor did he want to look like an indecisive fool.
He settled with looking to Hala, with intermittent glances to the Incineroar, âI am grateful to be of use, Kahuna. I myself am rather entertained discussing about Alolaâs culture and delicacies. If there is any time, and if it is permitted, I would be interested in assisting you set up. I have not seen an Alolan ceremony before, and social activities of that nature are thought-provoking. I do not mean any disrespect, of course,â he said, testing the waters with his interest. Chondrus wanted to learn more, and perhaps engross himself with Alolan culture. He started initially with the auras that come from Z-crystals, but even that is not enough to satiate his hunger for knowledge.Â
Hala just happens to glance over at that time, noticing how Incineroar was harassing his poor guest with its desire for some form of attention with a small smile...Hah, that was just like it, he figured. If Incineroar ever stopped acting selfish or prideful, heâd be extremely worried for its health!
But, he soon decided to check on the taro root one last time, finding to his delight that the fork sank into the root with incredible ease. That meant the stove could be turned off and he could prepare to peel the skin of the root for the cutting, which meant the Poi would be finished quite soon! So, Hala turned off the stove and departed from his seat to find some pot holders while humming to himself...
Though, his movement happened to catch Incineroarâs attention as well, causing it to grunt at its Trainer while he sought out some pot holders to retrieve the pot from its location on the stove. And, of course, he didnât forget about Chondrus, either, considering the humored laugh that came when Chondrus apologized for any potential disrespect.
âHahaha, indeed he is! Iâm sure youâve noticed how he takes being talked about in a positive light, though Iâm not too worried. The worst that one will do is hog the bed, dahahahaha! Your observations are spot on, though! And, youâve not disrespected this old Kahuna yet, my friend!
In fact, I believe that letting you lend a hand with the work is a fine way to educate you on the significance of Iki Townâs stage, and the traditions of Alola by extension! Who knows, perhaps one day your countrymen will have the chance to battle their Pokemon atop that stage with our own Trainers in harmony? That would be a magnificent sight, I believe! ...Had you not spoken up, though, the idea would have passed this old man completely! So, it seems I owe you my gratitude once again, hm?â
And, finally, Hala retrieves two matching pot holders with an Alolan print on the fabric, before hefting the pot up and taking it to the sink. Now was the time for him to skin the root, he believed, so he proceeded to pour the potâs water out, before removing the root from said pot, placing it on a towel, and going to fetch a knife...And, of course, making sure it would actually be useful for peeling, before shrugging, putting the knife heâd grabbed back, and brandishing the bane of potato skins everywhere, that which made any peeling task somewhat faster...
Thatâs right...Hala now had the almighty potato peeler in his hands! And it only cost 150 at the Hauâoli mall, too! What a steal for such a useful tool, he mused as he began his work. Once the taro root was peeled, then heâd use a knife to cut it into pieces and go from there with the food processor.
And, Chondrus would even get to hear Hala hum his favorite tune aloud, this time.
âDooot doo doo...Just a Kahuna on a stroll to the laguna. âȘ Ahh, this song is quite good. I thought it up myself, you know! Dahahaha!â
