nobody drinks like southerners drink.
so it makes sense that, some years ago, liam savage decided to start savage brewing. why not capitalize on the local culture? what some people thought was a dumbass, crack idea — why not just open a bar? what business would they even get — has turned into a veritable business just outside town, often attracting people from the surrounding counties. sometimes, people come as far as st. louis for a good savage beer.
the employees, especially those who have been around since the beginning (or close to it), have formed a strong bond. after all, a lot of people thought they were fucking crazy for going along with it. catch the staff spending their days off in the tasting room, shooting the shit and trying the bartenders’ latest creations. at the end of the day, though, while they sell a few spirits, beer is in their blood. and as a found family, it’s practically blood they share.
you can work your way up at savage; they hire and promote for talent and enthusiasm vs. a shitload of experience. of course, that can sometimes make for chaos and drama. because when you’re together as much as they are, some shit is always this close to hitting the fan before it inevitably does. they fight, they argue, they fuck around and sometimes it doesn’t end pretty. but at the end of the day, they’re what each other’s got.
all employees should be 21+, but otherwise they’re open! brewers, bartenders, people who help with facilities and distribution, even an accountant and a marketing/events person. it’s not a huge operation, so a lot of employees have to wear several hats (like kimball, who oversees the brewers and distributors). but there’s some fun opportunity to be had in what’s otherwise a small, mostly dead-end town. feel free to throw whoever in!
