I know there's a growing number of iconic wlw couples in media these days, but I'd like to take a second to remember one of the defining ships of the modern wlw community: Hollstein from Carmilla. Where else were we going to find a charming, wholesome, well-written, and unashamedly corny show where the main ship was played by two queer women? They have some of the strongest chemistry I've ever seen in any couple, and it's clear that both Elise Bauman and Natasha Negovanlis were passionate about representing their community. We didn't get the trademark purse-lipped kisses that a lot of straight actresses do. We didn't get the thousandth identical coming-out story written by the same two straight writers. We got a balls-to-the-walls wild ride about two girls in love who got to save the world together.
