You gotta be really publicly passionate about things if you want your friends to text you. Bc people will forget to text you because theyâre human. But if youâre really openly the friend who loves identifying ants your friends will think of you when they see ants. And theyâll text you âwhat ant is this [blurry photo]â. And then theyâll ask you how youâve been and we should get coffee sometime. But if they donât know what you love theyâll never know what you like
And then when the ant convention is in town theyâll be like dude⊠we should go to the ant convention. But they would never think to go if they didnât know u loved ants
And sometimes you need to ask them to go to the ant convention. But you Will not get anywhere hiding your passions
So many political posts I hate boil down to "I don't want to organize and work with people I hate and fight for small, incremental victories, I just want to start a revolution where everyone magically becomes an automaton who acts exactly the way I think they should act"
Like damn man, I want that too. Unfortunately I live in reality though so we're stuck with the first thing.
"Modern movements are too fractured, too aimless, with too much infighting and corruption among the leadership. What we need is a revolution, which famously never have any issues with those things" okay then. Good luck I guess
This whole line of thinking comes down to "the current systems and leadership are bad. What we need is a fresh start with only people who are good, and then all the systems will be good". Which is simply not how anything has ever worked!
"We don't have enough people, funding, and power to bring about changes through elections! We have to do an armed revolution instead which thankfully doesn't require people, funding, or power to pull off."
Funny how around the sexual revolution men decided women were âmatronlyâ if they continued to wear clothing that covered their skin, but never applied this thinking to menâs suits which also cover the full body and havenât changed one bit. Also funny how they decided that womenâs underwear briefs were âgranny pantiesâ but they never called their briefs âgrandpa underwear.â I wish all these men a very die.
sometimes I see a feminist analysis post on sexual violence and/or porn etc and I agree with it or I understand the spirit of it, but the language is so salacious and vivid I get turned off. yeah we should describe the sexual violence in porn accurately, but also are we letting pornified language dictate how we talk about these things?
I debated adding an example cause it makes me uncomfortable even writing it but I guess to clarify (and this isnât in reference to a post, this is just an example of things like Iâve seen) - the difference between âmade to take it up the assâ vs âforced to perform anal sex.â I think we need to be careful about our words wrt these topics
The article also details that men aren't abusive because they were abused as kids the driving force for abuse towards women is the behaviour is beneficial to them and they don't respect that woman or women in general
In a broader context, structural relationships of inequalities in politics, religion, media and discriminatory cultural norms perpetuate vio
The duality of man is thinking âchildren cannot help themselves and we all need to be patient with them as they explore what it means to be human in publicâ and also âdamn, I wish this crying baby was not on the plane rn :/â
Just as courage is not the absence of fear but doing the brave thing in spite of it, patience is not the absence of irritation but doing the kind thing in spite of it.
the year is 2035. the new beauty standard is for women to cut their ears off, as ears are a masculine trait which make the face look too big and hearing isnt necessary as it doesnt align with being demure. evil feminists say perhaps this is unnecessary and ears are natural. women are agressively proclaiming they are cutting their ears off due to sensory issues

Just watched Adam Conover (of Adam Ruins Everything) make such a solid point that I think we should spread far and wide. Yes, having AI write your emails is lazy, sure, but people love being lazy. We need to really emphasize that sending AI emails (or using AI responses on social media, or publishing AI flyers, or or or) is rude.
It's rude. You're making someone take their time to read something you couldn't bother to write. You're telling them they were so unimportant you couldn't be bothered to actually take the time to say something yourself. And frankly, you're lying about it while you're at it.
It's rude.
for women, talent isnât enough.
Iâve been to many concerts and one thing has become progressively clearer. For women, musical talent is not enough, they have to be a performer, a stripper, an exotic dancer, a dancer, a comedian, among many other things.
I love fall out boy, Iâve been to their concerts twice the past year. Do they have costume changes? No. Do they have choreographed dance routines? No. Do they have to talk a lot and share anecdotes with the crowd? No.
Taylor Swift does. Haim does. Megan Thee Stallion does.
I also love Interpol, also been to them twice in the last year. They do ZERO talking in their sets, have ZERO stage presence, and yet their shows are crowded and their fans are appeased
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs fronted by Karen O has to dance, shake her butt, and is screamed at to take her top off. A womenâs talent is not talent, itâs an extra workaround to her fuckability.
For male artists, their talent is enough. For female artists, their talent and efforts will never be enough, because they are women.
Men get to make music, women are required to be extensive, multifaceted performers and even then are hated and criticized more ferociously. No woman is allowed to sit on stage playing guitar, she wonât get anywhere without a schtick (Chappell Roan). We continue to fail all women, even the most famous, because they are women.
And often those men that are promoted have less talent than their female counterparts but here we are. But I also blame us women in a way, that we could stop supporting male artists altogether. And we could support women artists that refuse to do that kind of freak exhibition for their careers even more so.

I've been trying to put this theory into words; that rape and sex and not meaningfully distinct categories to most men, mainly because to them, both rape and sex are acts where a man imposes his will on a woman using penetration, and follows an active/passive dynamic.
If sex itself is under a patriarchy constructed as male domination over women, must be penetrative, and is often painful and inherently degrading for women, then there is nothing uniquely horrifying about an act of rape unless its a stranger and physical violence is involved.
This is why 'grey area' experiences are so common, though they're all just rape, it doesn't register as such because a frozen passive woman (or even a protesting woman) and an active taking man can comfortably fall into the sex category to them. Nothing about the act of taking or a woman in pain or an unequal dynamic is inherently harmful to them because that is just biological destiny given our anatomy and dimorphism.
It's why they can understand its rape only when the situation meets certain criteria, i.e when rapist is a stranger or a family member, when there's a home invasion or kidnapping or extreme physical violence present. Anything other than that, when its digital rape, oral rape or marital rape or rape in a relationship, when it happened during sex where the woman originally consented then froze up and the man ignored it to keep going, can be easily dismissed as sex. because they're fundamentally constructed the same way and follow similar neural pathways.
Every man (or woman, unfortunately we also live in a rape culture) has a goalpost when it comes to rape, and it can be moved according to his own view on the matter. It can't be rape if there was no penetration. If it was rape, she would have clearly said no beforehand. if it was rape, she'd have screamed fought. if it was rape, there would be physical violence. It can't be rape because she had an orgasm. It can't be rape if she was intimate with him before. If it was such a horrible rape, she would be scared to come forward and would be scared all the time. if it was so horrible she wouldn't be angry, and so on, its endless.
tldr: rape is practically inevitable in a culture where even consensual sex is constructed as an act where a man actively penetrates and therefore 'owns' a woman. the active/passive sexual dynamic is the blueprint for misogyny in every other part of society
And, its also why normalizing physical violence in sex, on top of the unequal active/passive dynamic, will make rape culture a thousand times worse. The 'if it was rape there would be horrible physical violence' belief no longer holds weight, and most people who believe in unequal dynamics but not violence in sex cannot call something rape because its now just normal, kinky fun rough sex. The rough sex defense has already been used to free rapists several times. Now there is a widely accepted form of sex where men hurt women, so what is that bad about an act like rape, which also hurts women? Was it even rape, if women are naturally masochistic and it was all just kinky fun? I can't take kink positive feminists seriously for this reason
