Tamagotchi Survey
I want to learn more about the Tama/virtual pet community. Share your experiences here. (In this survey, Tamagotchi is used interchangeably for any virtual pet.) If you are playing only Tamagotchis, please specify somewhere on the survey.
How many Tamagotchis (or other virtual pets) do you own?
How old were you when you first got a Tamagotchi?
Approximately what year was it when you got your first Tamagotchi?
Which Tamagotchi was your first model? If a different virtual pet, what pet was it?
Describe your feelings around your first virtual pet. What was significant about it?
If you have multiple virtual pets, what made you decide to get more than one?
If you had virtual pets in childhood, stopped playing them, and now have started playing them as an adult, what caused you to pick virtual pets back up?
If you did not have virtual pets in childhood but have started playing them as an adult, how did you decide to pick them up?
What do you like about caring for Tamagotchis/virtual pets?
What do you dislike about caring for Tamagotchis/virtual pets?
Talk about the number of virtual pets you have and why.
How many Tamas/vps do you run at a time typically?
How often do you run a Tamagotchi/virtual pet?
Would you give a virtual pet from your collection to someone as a gift?
Do you ever feel judgment from others for playing with virtual pets? If so, what kind of judgment are you perceiving?
Is there a specific virtual pet/Tama that you wish you had but do not have? What is it and why do you want it?
Do you have friends you know in real life who play virtual pets, too? If so, are they in the same age range as you? How did you meet?
Describe your favorite thing about Tamagotchis/virtual pets.
Would you or have you ever mourned the "death" of a virtual pet the way you would the death of an animal?
For those who played virtual pets in the 90s/early 2000s, describe any childhood anxiety/trauma/mishaps you had related to caring for your virtual pet.
If you played a virtual pet in the 90s/2000s, did your school ban Tamagotchis/vps?
Please add anything here about your experience with Tamas/virtual pets that you would like to share.
Thank you!

really not loving the "those who feel the call" rhetoric around residencies, artist groups, etc. no shit i "feel the call" to make the work and have community and attend a residency somewhere lovely, but i also don't have bunch of money to throw around. why don't you make a full scholarship available? poor people make art too.
