Miraculously, in the first five minutes of Wednesday season 2, a worldbuilding question I have agonised over for actual years has been answered: 9/11 happened in the Wednesday cinematic universe!

There are honestly so many unanswered, inadequately gestured toward, and ignored questions about the Wednesday show’s universe that make it somewhat challenging but also correspondingly creative for fanfiction writers to work with; for example, why does there seem to be little to no recognition of race or racism in this society, yet outcasts are openly called what I can only imagine is a slur and segregated from the ‘normie’ population? How can you introduce diversity and intersectionality into a canon where monsters and mythical creatures (and their often-borrowed-from traits utilised in violent stereotypes against religious, ethnic, sexuality-based and other marginalized groups) are actually real? Why is Goody Addams called “Goody” as if it’s her name and not a period-specific honorific? The list goes on.

BUT I now finally can rest easy knowing that, in a world with people who have psychic powers, presumably present-day Wednesday has to go through airport security, which is, of course, the Transportation Security Administration, which was, of course, a (highly ineffective) response to 9/11.

We can now presume within the canon that 1) psychics predicted 9/11 but were ignored (Cassandra rolls in her grave), 2) psychics predicted 9/11 but said nothing, or 3) psychics did not predict 9/11, which would track with the current state of the canon worldbuilding, but is a disappointing answer. I am taking bets below.

hello friends! I am thrilled to say that my thesis was passed today (without revisions, might I add 😎), which means I can get back to my true writing passion, lesbian slashfic, soon! It also, shockingly, means I somehow now have a Masters degree (weird little 10 year old me is shaking in her boots)

As someone who read the series I am quite excited to see it on tv. Are you planning on watching it?
