I'm not even a lesbian but it is SO jarring hearing Chappell Roan do an interview and not knowing basic lesbian terms (there's better words to describe this - I just don't have them) on multiple occasions.

Most recent one I saw was her not knowing what a service top was and if I (and other people) are not mistaken, this is the SECOND time she has not known this. Like girl, learn these things if you're going to make a song like The Giver. Once is a learning point. Twice is a huge side eye that you can't learn from the first time.

The interview I saw further highlighted how little she knows about actual lesbians. I feel like if your whole gig is being a lesbian and whatnot, you should probably know more than 2 or 3 lesbian artists that came before you.

And like, this post is probably petty and whatever but Chappell continues to thank the queer community and drag queens and the trans community but cannot thank lesbians or pay them their dues. It's part of a pattern of behaviour and perhaps I cannot really moan as a bisexual woman and this is a case for the lesbians but I see lesbian radfems speaking out about this and I stand with my lesbian sisters who are rightfully pissed off by this.

I hate this because Chappell has a great voice and I personally like her music. I like that she's not afraid to speak up. She's not as out of touch as other artists of her fame level but so many lesbians paved the way for her and she is not really acknowledging them nearly as much as she is /other/ communities. She continues to use misogynistic slurs and its becoming harder and harder to defend her.
